How much support for Charlie Jacobs as CEO?

I said average. I misread/misinterpreted. I would rerank him less than average, one down. He doesn't inspire confidence and I am coming round to the position that he is more of a figurehead than Neely.

Yet another reason why Neely has got to go.

Charlie isn't leaving.

One thing I have noticed is Charlie is spending a lot of time on the fandeck just listening to fans. The arena atmosphere is much better on his watch.

He is leaning on moving the start times of games back to 7:30 PM.

that sounds like a perfect role for him. Leave anything that has to do with the sport of hockey to someone else. The Bruins are a big corporation, Im sure they have a job for him.

It seems like the suite holders are pushing for the later start. Teams across the NHL are split on the issue. 7 PM is tough for those coming from south of the city as traffic is what it is.

I think he's fantastic. He does what a CEO of a hockey team should do, sit in the background and collect a paycheck.

I guess I'm in the minority. I can appreciate him going up on the podium to make the selection, when it's kind of a known fact about his fear of public speaking. You never saw JJ do anything like that.

I'm perfectly fine with his involvement when you compare him to Ottawa's, Vancouver's, or Edmonton's owners. Those guys need to be muzzled.

Charlie isn't perfect, but he could be meddling with the team.

Does anyone actually know what this guy does? because I don't. I think daddy just put him here to attempt to look after things..

When I think about this question the first thought that comes to mind is that HE, Charlie Jacobs ought to be the President. Really the only reason why Neely is there IMO is to be a stopgap for the organization incase the GM wants to make a totally insane trade i.e. to save his job.
But honestly, Neely just adds a layer of indecision to the whole process.

I can already see excuses will be made for Jacobs bad job here in the future. "I don't really know what he does so how can I rate him"

This franchise so so doomed

Not only do we have a stuttering King Joffery, but we have his loyal subjects. Doubt we see the playoffs this decade. Oh well no big deal

So people want try to be objective on a subject and that makes it bad?

How is wanting to actually know what he does an excuse?

What actions for the on ice talent has Charlie been personally involved in that is leading to the doom of the franchise?

Less than ZERO.

At this point, I have to agree.

Assuming he was the one behind the hire, I give Charlie great credit for bringing Peter Chiarelli to the Bruins, after Ray Shero apparently declined.

I also give Charlie credit for understanding, in a way his father never will, what makes Bruins fans tick. He went to BC, and was surely well aware of the low regard B's fans have always had for Mr. Burns. He helped create a winning culture in Boston, a place where free agents actually wanted to go for the first time since the old man bought the club in '75.

Now? In combination with Neely, the old man, & Banquo's Ghost (aka Sinden), he is clearly part of the problem.

He should hand over the keys to one of his siblings (which I gather may be the plan at some point), and Neely should step aside as well.

Both have contributed to an opaque, confusing & ultimately detrimental atmosphere on Causeway Street. Mr. Burns should bring in SOMEONE FROM THE OUTSIDE, as he finally did with PC, and begin again.

What they've got now is a muddled mess, with no clear chain of command or accountability.

Do the right thing, Charlie. And take Cam with you.

but then the games end later, isn't just easier to build the NSRL?

I've been harping on this point, but the lack of transparency means a lack of clearly defined roles.

The organization lacks direction.

It lacks leadership and accountability and that starts at the very top.

Jeremy/Charlie own this situation.

It's time to overhaul the thing top to bottom.
Bring in a hockey czar.
Allow him to hire his own GM and coach.
Start by defining what direction you want to take as an organization.
That's how to build a team and how you want to approach drafting, free agency and evaluating the current talent.

The best thing that Jacobs can do is commit to spend to the cap, promise to be patient and step away.
Admit that you know nothing about the sport of hockey and how to build.
Hand the reins off to a technocrat.
