Pretty sick of DJ playing Chabot 25+ mins a night on the first powerplay unit when we clearly have better options in Sanderson and Chychrun. Honestly might consider trading him because once he’s off the top unit his point totals are gonna drop hard

This is like the third year in a row where the team is clearly underperforming at the start of the season and you still hear people throwing out “gotta give DJ at least 20 games!” Then by mid-November we’re 6 games under .500 and the playoff chances are already looking slim
Chabot hasn't been on the top unit for 3 or 4 games now, and it looks like that change is likely to be permanent.

Interesting to hear Jacques Martin say on the team that he loves the defensive core and thinks they have the personnel to do well defensively.
The contrast between him and DJ when they speak about systems and defending is astonishing. Listen to DJs post game interviews and he regurgitates the same dumb shit like a caveman

Okay interesting let's see here

Edmonton so far this season they have lost against Vancouver(2x), Philadelphia, Winnipeg and Minnesota not a very hard schedule here.

Carolina lost against Anaheim, Seattle, Colorado and Tampa Bay so okay that was a tougher schedule but still aren't they suppose to be a cup contender? And let's not forget their 3 wins were against Ottawa, San Jose and Los Angeles, so you it wasn't really a difficult schedule either they should be better then 3-4?

I think we have to wait 20-25 games
okay, wait all you want.

what I am telling you is how last year unfolded. 3-5 was pretty much the lottery teams.

I want to hear from the advanced stats nerds. I feel like there's a variable missing in our play that isn't getting covered.

We had awful puck luck at the start of last season before we Norris, during games where we played well (hence the whole win-o-meter meme) but still lost.

I'm again seeing a repeat of stats that show we should be winning games (heavily outchancing the other team both in regular stats and adv. stats) but have awful "puck luck". It seems like we heavily outchance teams but other teams are able to score on minimum chances, even if it doesn't indicate they're high danger. I wonder if it has something to do with goalies historically underperforming on this team. I'm starting to believe less that it's just "luck".

Edm is an abysmal franchise that would be worst in the league minus McDrai. Lets not use them and one other anomoly team in Carolina having bad starts as a presedent.

Ottawa doesnt have the top end talent of Edm, or the depth of Carolina. We are a team that has the pieces to make playoffs, maybe win one round. But we need a solid start and consistency to get there.

After 25 games of what can only be assumed as the same as the first 6, we will be playing catch up to make post season. Not acceptable.

Fire DJ, Fire Dorion. Hire a coach who will bench Chabot, Stu and others when they dont meet expectations. If your Sr. management has the track record ours does, make the tough call and clean slate while the ship can still be corrected. .500 after 25 games and our season is at major risk, where probability suggests we dont make it without a miracle run.

Time to clean house. Now.

In the same line of reasoning, I also wonder what percentage of goals in general result from cycling in the O-zone vs benefiting from a turnover and scoring on the rush. Clearly puck possession, shots on goal and scoring are highly correlated, but intuitively the really dangerous scoring chances aren't created from staying in the perimeter and attempting long-range shots either.

Maybe he's suggesting the whole coaching staff is terrible? How did they all miss that?

You get what you pay for. Hopefully, Leeder and Staios step in very soon.

Two years in a row now I've made the same post about how it doesn't matter how much the players like DJ, he'll inevitably be the one paying the price when their shoddy play causes the axe to fall.

So screw it. This time I'll just say I have absolutely no expectation that DJ will be fired because it's obvious Dorion knows his ass is grass too the moment he makes the call - ergo, no fire.

Then can them both tomorrow morning. 5 years of loyalty to one of the worst NHL head coaches of all time.

He was not looking happy leaving the ice today. Players can't execute, but a new voice may be needed. Some new ideas for these guys who have never had a change in coaching philosophy in the NHL.

You just know that PD knows that his fate is tethered to DJ, as he has steadfastly stood behind DJ. I can’t see Staios approving DJ getting fired before a GM change. Or maybe a 2 for 1 happens.
