Penguins aren't trying to compete next season and have cap space to burn. Make an attractive offer for say Rakell or Rust, and sweeten the pot a little bit to get them to take Tarasenko back. It's only one year and maybe he's a guy the Pens could retain on and flip at the TDL.
Nah.

If the Penguins trade Rakell or Rust I'd take Tarasenko no retention with a draft pick attached.

If Detroit is desperate to move on from Tank they can open up more than 3M of cap space by buying him out never mind the fact that they have more than 20 million in cap space to work with so they really won't be desperate to move on.

I'm not sure why they would pay an asset to unload Tank.

Also pass on Rakell/Rust. Still solid players but the asking price I've seen is far to high for a team like Detroit.

O I wasn't even talking about trading them to Detroit.

Asking price is high and it has a lot to do with the AAV of the contracts.

"Or somethin" being the obvious off-ice issue.

Ok, what do you think happened? Because I know Stevie didn’t shop the dude around, and now he’s a key contributor on a finals team. Oh, and Stevie missed playoffs, I’d say he’s got more issues being off ice than Jake does, currently.

I think it's very clear what happened... An off-ice issue.

Would you like me to baselessly speculate as to what that was? Because throwing around stuff like "So and so probably had an alcohol or drug problem or probably was harassing an employee or probably banged a teammate's wife" about a specific player, with no evidence, kinda seems like something Troll Stomper would love to toss a warning out for. f***, we couldn't even say the names of the Team Canada guys until they came out and confirmed them.

"I know Stevie didn't shop the dude around". You're right. He didn't. He got him the f*** out of the organization immediately. Hmm... Wonder why you would do that?

By the way, he did the same with Vrana... Difference is we have an idea of why that was because he had just come back from rehab.

K, congrats on that decision you agree with even though you don’t know why it was made, on getting rid of a cup contending D-man. It has really worked out well for Detroit.

I would insist on 50% retention.

Or if you want the full contract gone I want the same deal you got for Wallman, I'll take the full contract but I want your 2025 2nd.

I have no interest in him at full contract unless there is an asset coming with him.

That being said he did win with Berube so I could see Toronto calling
