How much more rope does Dean Evason have with Minnesota?

Yeah it's been a complete 180 from when Guerin started to now. 'Youth, speed, accountability, no more country club' to 'Foligno 4x4 with a full NMC' in record time. I think 2021-22 happened and they convinced themselves this team was ahead of schedule and didn't need the transition they originally thought.
If this year can't dispel them of that notion, nothing will.

It often seems like Creed and his team are more interested in injuring other players than actually playing hockey

The Wild operate like a Canadian franchise. Because hockey is the sport over there too.

Go for Celebrini. Problem is, you will have to lose a lottery to the Blackhawks.

That ridiculous contract of Foligno's doesn't even kick in till next year.

Seems very strange to see Wild fans turning so hard on Guerin and Dean.

Next they are going to want to ship Kaprizov out for “futures”.
I don't want to get rid of Kaprizov, but it needs to be said he is a very different player right now. Not the best guy on the roster at the moment. Rossi is kicking his butt.

Fenton hired Evason to be an assistant under Boudreau, obviously to try and ruffle BB's feathers. BG fired BB even though he was on a decent winning streak, and decided to try Evason, a lifelong Asst/AHL head coach. He's had good results in the regular season, and has some respect in the dressing room among players, but his teams have usually been poor/mediocre on special teams, FO's, and in the playoffs.

He's basically an average coach. Up till now you could argue that he has been an above average coach, at least in the regular season.

Because of the cap penalties this year and next(thanks, NHL), it's going to be near impossible for them to win anything of note, or attract a top coach. I think they'll try to drag out firing Dean for as long as possible. Loud, sustained booing, and unsold seats will be the thing that will force changes. They might start with firing an assistant coach, or making a small trade to shake up the room.

Guerin has done some good things since coming here, but he has also made some unforced errors. I blame him just as much, if not more, for the present state of the team, as Evason.

They've basically committed to being bad this year and next with 15M in dead cap space. Not sure what the coach is supposed to do when his defense is paper thin and his top two Cs are Eriksson Ek and Ryan Hartman

Evason never should have been given the head coaching job in the first place. For a franchise who has historically had issues getting out of the 1st round of the playoffs to hire a guy with Evason's playoff pedigree is insane. Dude has gotten out of the 1st round of the playoffs 1 time in 11 shots as a head coach at all levels. Believe I saw he had a 1-12 playoff record as an AHL head coach. He cannot coach. He does not make changes. PK has consistently sucked for years. In the off chance he does shake something up if it does not work immediately he goes right back. If it does work immediately at the 1st sign of struggle change it right back. How is Faber not on either PP unit?

As a Wild fan with the dead cap we know they have roster issues. We know the next couple years are going to be rough. That does not excuse terrible coaching decisions he repeatedly makes, and has made seemingly his entire career. Especially when it comes to playoff time. This isn't a good coach that lost the room. This is a bad coach who never should have been given a shot at a head coaching job at the NHL level in the first place.

Since it seems like he can shoot lasers from his eyes, he will most likely get a lot of rope since he can incinerate rope.

He's got the group playing the worst dump and chase system ever and only 5 wins, and he calls out Boldy for not scoring goals.

Head Coach isn’t the problem in my eyes, but they always need a scapegoat. A coaching change has a large chance of only making this team worse, but maybe that’s what they want if BG goes that route.

They vary their playstyle pretty much every game for their opponent, it’s actually pretty good coaching from that aspect IMO.

The JEE and 4th lines are both very good at retrievals and pressuring the D men into mistakes for offense. But the top of the lineup is completely neutered without a zone entry player. Kap still can’t skate it after his leg injury.

MarJo is here solely because of his zone entries but he has had hands of stone for most of this season. Boldy still struggling off of injury, Spurgeon still struggling off of injury. It’s a list of our biggest dollar players all failing for their own reasons, none of them things a different head coach is going to be able to solve.

The rookies have been the best players, I have no idea if that is a good thing or bad thing, if the guys being paid to be our best players were actually playing well, this team would be pretty great.

they over achieved last year. They have nearly 15mill in cap space this season and next.

He's a terrible coach.

His style of playing "grit" and tough (dirty), then goes berserk at ref's when it leads to penalties.

Plays Guys like Duhaime, Dewar, Foligno..ordinary NHL players from the late 90s time, but like to be noisy and throw cheap hits. Has no impact positively on a game, but they keep trying that approach.

He's not a coach that knows how to build a game plan to maximise his skill players. Just wants a checking and physical game and his star plays to make 2 or 3 plays a game to get a win

This sounds more like you have issue with Bill Guerin than Dean Evason. Though it’s also pretty uninformed even when it comes to playstyle. You think Kaprizov, Zuccarello, Rossi, Boldy and Marcus Johansson are expected to play a checking and physical game? If so, he probably would have benched them all game 1 when they stepped onto the team.

No I'm saying the game plan is not built around his best players strengths.

What’s Wild fans issues with Guerin? Thought he’d be a good GM in Minnie. Where has he gone wrong?

I still like him, inherited a mess, team is still setup to compete two years from now. People don’t like the extensions he signed as if we would be some sort of free agent destination over the next two seasons with the cap penalties in play.
