2nd consecutive gold with Team Canada.

Has been criticized a lot though for his decisions, notably:
Insisting on playing Kunitz, even on the PP.
Not selecting St Louis and Giroux on the team.
Sharp on the PP point.
Not dressing Subban to play him at least on the PP.
Lack of Duchesne and Tavares, both deserved more ice time.

In the end, Canada still won gold and despite not scoring a lot, defense was best we've ever witnessed in an international tournament, and the team completely dominated all their opponents.

Would another coach have done any better?

Props to Babcock.

the Kunitz hate was overblown, he missed chances, so did EVERYONE.

He was just the whipping boy as the least talented player, but he played great and wasnt detrimental in any way.

Also, Crosby seems to just have a radar system for knowing where he is and vice versa

I think he deserves a lot. In terms of team choices in particular let's not forget it was far from his sole jurisdiction

A lot. As Canada was clearly the best team on paper, the work ethic and dicipline was world class too. That is to a large part on Babcock. See Russia in general, and also USA in the bronze medal game, they just didnt have that.

Congrats Canada.

I've never seen team Canada play with this much discipline.

They took almost no penalties, did not blid side anyone..not a typical Canadian team.

Babcock and co. deserve a lot of credit IMHO.

Many of these decisions are a team effort, and not his call. I think that was a problem early on. For the last couple of games Babcock got to put his stamp on it. If Canada loses he is the huge fall guy, so large kudos for the win.

Its not just Babcock, its the whole team Canada brass and they deserve a ton of credit. The players were so dialed into the system, the right players were taken, and it was incredible.

He deserves a lot. He got team canada to play a system that almost guaranteed victory given their talent level. He rode his top players and did not hide the fact that the supporting guys wouldn't play much.

he is the best coach in the league hands down

brillant coach

great motivator

passionate and inspiring

takes the heat on himself to shield his guys

dosent get thrown off

respectful of the others teams best guys

The whole team Canada organization were vindicated on pretty well every single decisions they made. Just a brilliant overall plan and unmatched execution of the plan.

IMO coaches are either given too much credit/blame for their team's performance, but full props to Babcock. He was clearly a difference maker here. Team Canada might not been super exciting but they were well-prepared, disciplined, hard to play against, and did not get rattled when adversity struck. Awesome job.

The defensive support all over the ice was remarkable. Just smothering. The players completely bought in and that's pretty much all that needs to be said about Babs. Hats off to him.

After seeing other coaches not use their talent properly, I'd say Babcock was pretty amazing.

I thought he didn't have final say on who or who didn't make the team.

Not as much as he gets, but if they lost 1-0 to USA he would've got more blame than he deserved too. Bottom line is the lineup is world class. When you're in a situation where you're sitting Norris winners, obviously you have the talent.

He deserve's as much credit as the players and management. Everyone did an unbelievable job.

He got a team of all stars to buy in and dominate a tournament. All the vitriol spewed at him earlier was ridiculous.
