If you give him 5 years, then you have to give him the higher cap hit to go with it. Those arbitration years and UFA years are expensive. You want to have him with a 4 mil cap hit next year while we still need to re-sign McD and Hags, who will both be arbitration eligible?

I know this post is a bit old but... Hagelin is the man, one of my favorite players on the team. However how is he getting only 800k less than Stepan a year? Or am I wrong and that's a significant amount. Hags is a great complimentary player that has games where he carries play. Stepan has turned into a player that caries play in every game, practically every shift.

Right now our offense is being driven by two guys, Nash and Steps......but I'm also skeptical of long term contracts especially because they can be renegotiated at some later point. That being said, I think 3 years at 13.5 should get this done.

I think he gets 4 years at 4-4.5 a year. He deserves every penny hr gets for what he does for this team. I just hope they get it done!!
