Only piece to upgrade on really is the #4 dman spot. IMO that isn't enough to cost you a cup. Every winner has holes.

I can see the forward core needing a bit of a tweak as well as a second RS on the blueline. Not saying this trade is out there, but something like Rakell+Manson for Nylander++, to fill that blueline hole while getting a forward that might give your forward core something it may not have enough of atm.

But yeah, you should be a blast to watch this year and this does feel like your best shot with this current incarnation.

Just curious, what does Rakell bring that the Leafs don't have? They have arguably the clear cut 2nd best offense after Tampa.

A top tier two-way winger with a PWF game who makes his linemates lives easier? In the process making our forward core harder to play against without sacrificing any offense.

I expect around 70-75. Very talented, but I have found him disappointing relative to my expectations of him. He can still be a first line forward, and now's as good a time as any to display that consistency with the talent available to him.

Plus, I like seeing players earn their dollars.

I smell a career season. Chip on his shoulder, re-united with Matthews full-time, in from training camp, couple years older than his 60 point years.

I'm going to go off the wall bold prediction here and say that IF Willy plays with Auston the whole year and Auston manages to stay healthy (both are huge IFs) Auston will put up 50-60 G 100-110 P and Willy will get about 20-25 G and 85-90 P.

If they play 82 Games
Matthews 50-60 G 100-110 P
Marner (if full season) 25-30 G 100-110 P
Tavares 45-55 G 90-95 P
Willy 20-25 G 85-90 P
Rielly 10-15 G 60-70 P
Barrie 10-15 G 60-70 P

Everyone else below 40-45 points.

Another bold prediction/ Wild card:
Mikheyev 15 G 60 P

Just a gut feeling, but I think he’ll score more points than Marner next year. I went with 71-82 but I could see him scoring more than that as well.

Marners definitely due for some regression. at least at 5v5 anyways
more PP time or possibly more natural progression could balance it out though

80 if he plays with Matthews. I think Matthews is good enough to be an Art Ross possibility and I think Nylander is the perfect linemates to compliment that.

Despise the Leafs but those two are absolute studs.

Bounceback player IMO he gets something around 65-70 wouldn't be that surprised if he goes over 75+ though.

Somewhere around 65. Only so much scoring to go around, and it doesn't sound like he spends a lot of time on PP1, where Marner rules. Unless I'm wrong on that? He could top 70 if he spends the season with Matthews and Matthews stays healthy. I think the safer bet is mid-60s though.

He should be with Matthews this year butttt... Babcock going to Babcock so who really knows.

I made this poll assume he would get 5v5 with Matthews and likely 2nd PP time at least to start the year. Maybe he gets 1st at some point.

I'll be stunned if he plays the full year with Matthews. Someone will cuts Babs off in traffic and Nylander will spend 2 months on the 4th line.

This poll could basically be streamlined down to just, "Over/Under set at 61 Pts".

I kinda lean toward the over, if he's healthy all year and plays a ton with Matthews. He's shown he can produce like that before, and he won't be jumping onto a moving train after missing camp and the beginning of the season this year.

except he hasnt fallen into that window yet in a full season...so there is that

Touche however considering he just shit the bed on his return last season 30-60 is a very realistic scenario for him next season. I fully expect him to get more then 50 points next season and wouldn't be surprised if he even surpassed 60 but he needs to show me first. I know he already has done it but some players float after their payday could he be another one possibly? He's got talent for sure but does he have the drive?
