Voted 40-45 but that's me being optimistic.

Does anybody know what he's been doing during the time off?

He's peaking, possibly still rising as a star. His teammat Lupul returns beside him. Unless a move happens, Bozak also remains and he still hasn't hit his ceiling.

I know people may think I'm being optimistic, but honestly, I think he'll have an even better year this year over last. For a full season, I'd guess 45-50 goals, 95 pts. I might be the lone voter for it, but I say 50+ pts.

Could be just the hockey returning though, ha ha.

A better question would be how many more goals AGAINST will he be on the ice for.

I'm giving him a -15 rating - with 35 points in 48 games.

How many points did Kessel have after 48 games last season? I just know it was more than a ppg, so I think he kills it this season with a 50+ point season...the question is if he can keep his 30 goal season streak going in this shortened season...I say yes ;)

definitely close to PPG, he's a fast starter.

Hasnt he had more than PPG in every start the past few years? He always seems to come out scoring alot of goals in the first month.

I know he was atleast above a PPG till game 66, when Lupul went down. Lupul finished with 67 in 66.

How is this a better question? We're an awful team -- the answer is "a lot" for everyone on the team.

Fight Club didn't allow positive threads either. :sarcasm:

The way I see it, he was ppg last year with Lupul gone 20% of the season and playing through a wrist injury the last month. I'll put 45-50 as a safe bet because we should be playing a more defensive system, but overall his offensive potential is sky high.

New coach, new system. Does he repeat PPG as he did last season?

I'm going to say between 35-40 points: Kessel I dont think has gotten any hockey in during the lockout, and the last time I saw him on tv (doing an interview) he looked disgustingly fat but then again that was in the summer he very well could have gotten somewhat back into game shape. But the lack of hockey coupled with poor conditioning will equal a slow start but I think he'll get better as the season goes on.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think Kessel regresses this year. I think Lupul overachieved last year, and that added to Kessel's assist column. I don't think anything will happen to Kessel's shot, so he'll still pot a fair amount of goals. I just don't see the long off season helping either Lupul or Kessel. I guess between 30-35 if he's injured for any stretch and 35-40 if he's healthy for the entire season. Either way I think he bounces back the following year to PPG status regardless of who's on his line.

Haha. Fantastic

With that said, I'll go with 35 points. He won't have the chain to run around on offence like he did with Wilson

Carlyle is a very systematic coach who matches lines a lot. i don't think Kessel to see much icetime against top lines like he's faced against some teams, and his +/- should improve. I expect he'll also be kept away from top pairings as much as possible.

There's something to be said for competent coaching.
