As of this post, he has 17 goals in 27 games (0 games missed). That's a pace of 52 goals over 82 games.

What's your best prediction, how high does he go?

Last 3 seasons:

23 goals (in 67 games)
26 goals (in 46 games)
28 goals (in 82 games)

In my opinion:

Anythig below 30 would be a disaster
Anything below 40 would be disappointing based on his very strong start
Anything above 40 would be great
Anything above 50 would be absolutely amazing

Make a prediction.

Not sure what the Patrik Laine arrival in the PP will mean for Cole. He's not the only guy with the big shot anymore. But I answered 40-49 and certainly over 65 pts.

I think he gets 50 or close to it. Last year should’ve been a career year. So many chances but the shot wouldn’t go in from anywhere further out. This year he’s gotten much better results.

Encouragingly, his shot numbers are going up as well. 29 in his last seven games and a 17.2 shot percentage. That’s much more sustainable than what he was doing early on. Small sample size but his play has gotten better since being put back with Suzuki. Both guys are now playing their best hockey of the year.

Too funny... I had made a poll on this today as well and didn't realize this was here. I had thought this was the old thread...

Anyways, I have him at 50+. Not going to be easy but I think he can do it.

As of today, Caufield has 17 goals in 27 games. 76 shots on net with a shooting percentage of 22.4. That projects to 52 goals on 230 shots with a 22.4% shooting.

I don't think he finishes the season at 22.4% shooting. I think that goes down, however, I also think his shot numbers go up. It's already started happening and I'd guess he picks it up from here. I think he'll average around 3.5 shots per game going forward that would result in approx 195 shots the rest of the way. At 17 percent shooting, that would put him at 33 goals the rest of the way. End of season would be 50 goals on the nose. Is that doable? I think so but it won't be easy. I think he'll get to 50 or close to it.

Laine's prowess on the PP -- from Caufield's habitual spot there -- will reduce the goals that Canfield gets on the PP. I still think he gets between 30 and 40 goals, which will be a continued progression for the pure sniper.

Once we ice an actual 2nd line (once we get another legitimate top-6 C and once Demidov gets accustomed to North American rinks), Caufield will net 50+ goals. That could be in as much as three to four years. Anywhere between 30 and 50 goals until then would still be pretty incredible for the kid.

I'm honestly hoping that Laine continues to pan -- even improves -- and that he can avoid further injury while Montreal re-signs him medium to long term (5-6 years) at Suzuki money minus 1 dollar (symbolic amount).

Spending around 45M on your top-6 up front, around 25M on your top-4 on D and up to 10M on your G tandem would leave around 15M to round out your roster with a Cap steadily rising towards a 100M ceiling. That's a 1.5M average for the players needed to round out the roster.

Need to balance out league-minimum depth players and team friendly contracts for the 3rd line and bottom pairing Ds to ice a full roster and boast enough talent to challenge for a long playoff run.

Demidov will need to adapt to NA play, not NA rinks. KHL has transitioned torwards NHL rinks since 2019 and very few rinks are not still standard.

Cole will hit 40, I'm hoping Slaf hits 10.

Laine is now becoming the go-to guy on pp1 which will cut down on the number of pp shooting chances for Cole. I predict 30-39.

Yeah, his raw goal scoring numbers will go down because of Laine. But Caufields presence on the PP allows Laine to be more open.

Kind of a catch 22 there.

His sweet pot is twice the size of Cole Caufield's so right away the Suzuki's and the Hutson's of the world will find better lanes to work with.
I'm not sure if Caufield would score more on a second wave.

It’s working for Laine now and when the other will mark him more closely it’ll open lanes for Caufield. Caufield can score from different spots, near the net on the right, from the circle on the right too, snipes, rebound. He’s moving a lot during the PP.
