Frame of time is way too broad to have a decent discussion based on the selections.

Probably 2-4 years. Depends on how quickly and how well Rasmussen/Veleno/Seider comes along and where we pick this year.

For instance, I don't think we'll be a playoff team next year, but Detroit has a strong possibility to add three top 10 picks to their roster next season. That makes a difference.

Pretty much this, 5 years is an extremely long time in a salary cap NHL.

They haven't had a chance to handle enough of the framework yet. I'm going for 5-6 years.

When Yzerman came into Tampa they had a lot more young good pieces to work with. Steve is gonna need a few more drafts to make this work.

Lol, uhh, no they didn't.

Tampa was literally in the exact opposite scenario as Detroit. Yzerman started in Tampa with elite talent and no supporting cast. Yzerman started in Detroit with a supporting cast and no elite talent.

People don't seem to get that Detroit's rebuild is a lot more similar to Toronto's than Tampa's.

I like how they are managing their cap so far. That is important with this flat cap for the next few years.

I think that they will making the playoffs in the next 5 years.

Ideally this will be their lineup in a few years:
Mantha - Larkin - Zadina
Bertuzzi - Veleno - Round 1 pick?
Fabbri - Rasmussen - Svechnikov
Namestnikov - Helm - Glendening

Seider - Dekeyser
Hronek - McIsaac
Nemeth - A.Johansson
Lindstrom

???

They will need to figure out their goaltending because Greiss & Bernier are not the answer long-term. They will also need to add some more scoring through the draft. But I dont think they are too far from making the playoffs.

That round 1 pick on yuor second line would be Lucas Raymond hopefully. They could really use a top tier centerman though to make this rebuild go really well. If they could bump Larkin down a spot and have him shut down other teams top lines while another center worries about the production they would be pretty set. They have so many D prospects that if half those guys dont pan out, theyre stillbound to get a couple really useful NHLers out of their depth

Hard to say. I think they’ll need a rebuild of the rebuild to get some elite forwards. But so many variables. And the playoffs isn’t really a high bar these days.
