Just read some butthurt thread on another team's board, won't mention the name but here is a hint: my girlfriend ate some of it's feet at a dim sum restaurant this morning.

Anyway, that tired old "all Kings fans are bandwaggoners" theme came up repeatedly, and it just has to make me laugh. Whenever I point out I've been on the bandwagon for 47 years, I never get a response back.

There are some great posters here, and I'm wondering for each of you: how long you been on the bandwagon? (A joke of course...how long you been a Kings fan?)

Since 2001. I grew up in Chicago - the Blackhawks were so awful then there wasn't any reason to get in to hockey until several years after I moved to LA. Red Wings / Kings playoffs in 2001 got me hooked.

I got season tickets starting in 2002. Worst timing EVER. :) Had them all the way through 2012 when the Kings rewarded everyone for all those years of crapola teams and was at game 6 in person.

I travel so much for work now it doesn't make sense for me to have my season seats any longer, but rest assured I enjoyed 2014's win just as much as 2012. Both unique and both special. The fact that they're the only team in forever that's won the Cup at home both times makes it even sweeter.

Since 1985/86.

I remember collecting OPC Hockey cards as a kid in the early to mid 80's and getting Kings players like Dionne, Simmer, Nicholls, Taylor, Robitaille, etc. and thinking their uniforms were cool. Then watching them on HNIC when they played the Leafs or were on during the occasional late game from the Great Western Forum. I always thought the Forum was a cool building. These things drew me in to liking the Kings.

Been there for a lot of lean years but being a fan for such a long time and finally seeing them win a few Cups has been very rewarding.

I was around 9 when I hopped on the "bandwagon." That was 24 years ago. Had season tickets during the crappy Taylor era between 2003 and 2006 since they were dirt cheap (Dave Taylor die-hards section), but couldn't take anymore of having to pay to watch a terrible Kings team, so I just continued to watch from home. Also had to go to school out of state and I purchased Center Ice to continue watching a horrendous Kings team.

Unfortunately my gift of memorizing just about every Kings lineup through every different era also haunts me every now and then, like Vietnam flashbacks, going from the high paced Gretzky era between 88-93 to the old, broken down, bankrupt Gretzky era from 94 to 96. Then we got the Taylor era from 97 to 2006, to the early stages of the Lombardi rebuild from summer of 2006 through 2009.

It wasn't until Terry Murray was brought in that the team started to show some stability and real promise as to what they could do, but it took a bench boss like Darryl Sutter to get the most out of this team and finally etch an identity with this hockey club. So yeah, those who call us bandwagoners can stuff it. All of us have had to sit through many years of garbage, and all of those years of agony were well worth it. Never did I expect this team to get to this level where they win 2 Cups out of 3 years with 3 consecutive appearances in the Conference Finals, especially when they had only gotten to the Conference Finals and Cup Finals once in their previous 45 years.

I've been on boards since 1976 hense my name. I heard this bandwagon fan thing a lot in my life and most people assume it was 99 that made me a fan. I very proudly correct them and say number 16 Marcel Dionne made me a fan. This makes a lot of them go wow that long.

Been riding this "bandwagon " since 72/73 had season seats since 88 as before Gretzky we sat anywhere we wanted for a $5.00 student ticket. Lots of downs with a few up and then came Deano and things have never been so good. Dean rocks, our team rocks and our system rocks. Still many years ahead where we will be as tough as anyone!!!!

87ish. My cousin was a huge Kings fan and got me into it when I moved back to California that year. 93 was the highlight/lowlight of my fandom back then. I remember being hopeful and disappointed for most of the rest of that decade. Feels so long ago now.

After giving it some thought I was never on the bandwaggon. I went to games when I was a kid in 70/71 and really started getting into the team later in the decade as much as I could with how things where and where I lived. Once I was living full time in L.A. again in the early 80's I went to every game I could for the next few years. I have been a fan since the early 70's.

3 glorious years! I was a Leaf fan from birth till 1974, dumped them when Harold Ballard was president and was a total jerk to the players and fans, switched to Philly and figured I'd be there for life, when Richards and Carter were traded to bring in Bryz, I figured I'd have an eastern and western team, fell out of love with the Flyers soon after and just cheer for the Kings now. I don't remember any of the Leafs' SC wins but I remember the 2 Flyer wins and of course have 2 with the Kings. It kind of sucks not being a fan of a hometown team because I miss the pre and post game shows and likely won't see anything of the parade tomorrow since it won't be on TV here, but all in all, it's better than being a Leaf fan and having nothing to show for it!

If you are ever in Niagara Falls you should stop by his sports store. He is usually in and will take time out to talk with you.

I have been there a few times and chatted with him. He has some good stories. He also has a book out that is a pretty good read.

Technically a fan from the Gretzky era (circa 1992-1995) even though I was living overseas (read: zero hockey scene whatsoever) and unfortunately, the team became "out of sight, out of mind" for me, upon arrival here in the USA.

When the team did its magical run in 2012 and subsequently received national attention, that rekindled my interest for the Los Angeles Kings, all the while attending school in Northern California of all places.

I got in to sports in 1992 and chose an NHL team to root for based on where Jari Kurri was playing at the time.

I haven't had reason to go east since the mid 80s however if i ever do this will be a stop for sure. I would absolutely love to hear his story s and met him again ( i had a chance encounter when i was young outside the Montreal forum) So it would be great to met him again so i could actually speak to him this time lol
