How long do you except the Nylander at center experiment to last?

I don't think it last long at all, especially if it means Lafferty on the 2nd line, that's just stupid.

But even if it doesn't mean Lafferty on the 2nd line It's been tried It's failed every time.

"he did it in the AHL.

Yes he did 7 years ago, it hasn't worked since.

I don't think it lasts very long.

I think Nylander will end up back in the top 6 on the wing very quickly

I think they're set on Nylander-Domi being a scoring line. Domi will share center duties and take faceoffs on the left. Worth noting that Jarnkrok can also play C.

I never doubted Domi and Nylander would be together on a line.

I just figured it would be with Tavares at center.

Still think we get there eventually

I want JT on the wing at this point to be honest. He seemed to be quite effective with ROR last year.

JT-Nylander-Knies

is what I would like to see.

And if we had a guy like Schifele on this team or kept ROR then that's fine because those guys are centers.

Nylander is a winger.

I think they will try Willie there as long as AM, JT and MM don’t struggle coming out of the gate like last season.
Eventually, I think Domi will be the 3C with Willie and Calle on the wings.

Trying to boost his value. If he can successfully play C for a bit and can’t agree to a contract he’ll have more value at TDL.

Plus it gives us versatility in the lineup. Hopefully it works.

Either not very long, or permanently.

willy played center for sweden internationally so i expect it to last for a bit

between skating at a snail's pace tavares and fast but defensively not as good willy

its a coin flip IMO anyway

I laugh when people claim it’s been tried and failed. It’s hardly ever been tried. When it’s been done it’s not lasted long, not because Willy played poorly in the role, but because an injured player came back or whatever. We’ve maybe never chosen to go to Willy at the role with a healthy lineup as we’re doing now.

Another thing people don’t consider is our lack of winger depth in previous years was a real hindrance to being able to actually keep nylander in the middle.

He’s got all the tools to play the middle, contrary to popular belief he does backcheck, and if he can stick it balances out our forward group while also making our center ice a matchup nightmare for opposition

This also allows us to put Tavares and Nylander with players who actually play into their strengths

JT - this is his last year at Centre imo. Give Willy at least 20 games to evaluate and decide.

In his amateur years, was Nylander a centre? I seem to recall one of those U18 years (2015) where he just dominated the tournaments skating circles around the opposition. Seemed more of a centre. If this gets him moving constantly as a centre should, it will play to his strengths.

In the title is ‘except’ supposed to be ‘expect’ or ‘accept’?

Last year they went into camp with Kerfoot at 3C. Then Jarnkrok got a few games at 3C before Kampf got the spot back.

My guess is by November Kampf is the 3C.

Until whichever line combination no longer works, thus necessitating change(s).

He's gone years as a winger with lazy checking with fly-bys, avoiding rough stuff and body contact compared to more physical players so why would he be successful in a center position where playing with heart and physicality could be even more beneficial? Instead of watching fashion and hairstyling videos he should watch some vintage Bobby Clarke or Dale Hunter videos to learn how to play the position better. He can take scaredy-cat Matthews along with him. We need some "nasty" down the center and Nylander and the others don't have it in them. Even just having one big nasty center that could play big minutes would help.
