So Cena just cut his first Heel promo since 2003, and it was great, and it was great because there was elements of truth to it.

Fans Have shit on him for nearly 20 years I remember it starting around summerslam 2005 in his feud with Y2J.

He's supposedly in his last year, I'm skeptical of that because.

A pro wrestlers never truly retire.

B. A random show in December seems like a weird place to retire.

But assuming he is going out in December How long does this Heel run last?

I'm hoping it lasts all the way up until December and he turns face in final match when he has a chance to cheat to retain the title and refuses.

Realistically I'm thinking Summerslam.
.

It can't just be until Wrestlemania because we need that heel title run.

But unfortunately I don't see it lasting until December

They are scheduling a Saturday Night Main Event for Boston in December, so that looks like the farewell show. Would guess he turns back face at some point after Summerslam.

He'll come out the Raw after mania after Cody cuts the same promo he always does and say he's sorry and that selling his soul was to The Rock was the only way he though he could beat Cody and get #17 before he retires and then he'll shake Cody's hand.

Don't think that's going to happen

If it's not going to be WrestleMania or SummerSlam, a televised show in Boston is the next best thing IMO

Cena loses to Cody at WrestleMania.

Punk is revealed as the third man. Transition Cody's title on to Punk without burning the big Cody/Punk singles match. Either in a mixed tag or a MITB type situation. Something to protect Cody and keep intrigue around Punk/Cody.

The Rock isn't going to be on TV week-to-week, nor is Cena, so it transfers the heat and prominence from the angle to someone who is a full time guy. When the time is right, slow burn Cena standing up to Punk and going back face.

Punk/Cena for the title is Cena's final match. Cena says if he wins the title, he will vacate it and retire. Build it around the finality of the record either being broken or not being broken. Cena beats Punk with Cody running in to help Cena. Things come full circle with Cody and Cena's history being resolved, and since Cody is the guy now, Cena breaking the record very much becomes about Cody helping him. Like a 2025 version of Hogan handing Warrior the title. Then, depending on what direction they want to go in (Cody chasing vs building Cody back up and having Punk in their back pocket as a big challenger since he would have the visible pin over Cody from the last title win) they have either Cody/Punk or Cody/Rock in their back pocket as a Mania main event. If The Rock is available for Mania, they can pull the trigger on Cody/Punk earlier.

The big thing is that they should payoff Cena breaking the title record as a face, and beating Cody clearly isn't the right dynamic - and at least as WWE is concerned Cena's most memorable opponent historically is probably Edge, or Punk, or Orton, but Punk is the bigger star than Orton right now. Not sure what Edge is doing.

cena’s schedule picks up after Wrestlemania, why would they go to Punk being heel when they just had a huge moment turning Cena? If they were concerned about any of that they wouldn’t have done it at all

If Cena + Rock get the Bloodline ratings from last year (like they should), he’s not turning face til near the end of his run.

Honestly, until Survivor Series is what I'm thinking.

I think he loses his title at Summerslam (assuming he wins at Wrestlemania) and then goes a few months trying to "find himself" - Then he becomes the 5th man for a War Games team. I'd like to see them hold off until the night of and build the anticipation for it in the weeks leading up.

I am really hoping WM 2026 will be when Cena fully retired. I find it hard to believe they'll have Cena retire on a SNME show in December. Cody turns full Homelander after he retires Cena.

I think Cena gets the title at WM for starters.

With Cena and Rock together I think this goes till at least Summerslam and it will be a huge moment when Cena turns on The Rock and goes back to baby face setting up one more match against each other.

Cena said he's done after this year but something tells me he wrestles one match in 2026 with the final match happening at WM next year.

Cena vs Rock
