Leafs fans don't seem to like him very much. How good is he really? He seems to be producing a lot of points.

2012-13 Toronto Maple Leafs NHL 46 12 16 28
2013-14 Toronto Maple Leafs NHL 58 19 30 49
2014-15 Toronto Maple Leafs NHL 40 13 17 30

Last two years he's gotten 79 pts in 98 games (that's 66 pts over a full season).

Is he a legit 1st line center? He's got good size, I think he's solid defensively and has decent speed.

Why exactly hasn't there been more talks about him? He's put up a lot of points lately while dealing with injuries in 2012-13 and 2013-14.

Leaf fans dont like him because Kadri is the better player yet never gets a shot on the top line.

Disclaimer: I've never been a big Bozak fan.

He's a passenger, a leech.

Everything about his play represents mediocrity as far as I'm concerned, regardless if some want to wave his stats/ppg around.

Some will argue in his favor by comparing his stats to other players who are for better or for worse considered 1st liners, but ultimately, I'd say no team should be content with him on the 1st line.

He works on the line because he's always in great position to score in the offensive zone (hence his sky high career shooting percentage despite not being your prototypical sniper). He doesn't create a whole lot of offense with the puck on his stick but he's an effective cog with two skilled first line wingers

Having said that, he's a low-end #1 center at best and I think over 82 games Kadri definitely puts up more points on that line.

He's a nice complimentary player. He won't drive the offense, but he won't hinder it either. He's someone you are able to play up in the lineup allowing the team to have a deeper offense.

His shooting % is high because he doesn't take shots from long range. His average shot distance is lower than any other forward on the Leafs and his shots/60 are usually low as well.

He's not very good. His 5 on 5 close CF% is 40%. He has 30 points because his wingers have 37 and 41 points, respectively. He is simply the beneficiary of playing with highly productive wingers.

You pretty much confirmed what I just said. He gets to high scoring areas on the ice and plays where his wingers can find him.

yep--This should be on the leaf board. Two players on the leafs I can no stand are Bozak and Reimer

Another selfless polite NHL player who doesn't hesitate to talk about other players qualities.

But more seriously, a team which has him as a #1 center is not a serious candidate for the Cup.

That said, I wouldn't mind him as a complementary player on my favourite team.

for only 5m a season and with his consistent production, i'd take him on my team's 2nd line in a heartbeat

Not good if you want a good #1 c. Good as a 2 and fantastic as a 3c. Will never drive pffense by himself but will always chip in when he's paired with quality wingers. Good faceoff man as well.

Much better than people give him credit for.
Not a true #1C, but there isn't a single one of those in all of Canada aside from H. Sedin.

Don't know why other Leafs fans hate on him so much, he's actually my favourite player on the team.

Not good enough to be on the top line, that's for sure. His points are a direct product of playing with two elite wingers. In reality he would be much better suited for the second line. The sooner he gets bumped to the second line, the better. Won't happen though, it has been shown he's bad without Kessel, his possession stats are worse and his points are much worse.

I'd love to see him traded but that won't happen either.

At best he's an average player: but has been gifted tons of minutes, along with getting to play with two incredibly talented offensive wingers who grossly inflate his point totals.

Bozak getting the Brendan Morrison treatment

Pretty good comp offensively at least but he is a good PK guy and a high end #2 type of center.

Of course the Leafs would like a better #1 center but so do half of the teams in the league

What about him Compared to Little and Turris?

Haven't seem much of Little playing, but I watch most Sens games, and Turris is no #1C, and not quite as good as Bozak. Hudler has looked great, but I don't know how many people would consider him good enough to a #1C. On a good Red Wings team he was competing for a 3C position.
