How does last year's Nikita Kucherov compare to Prime/Peak Jaromir Jagr?

2023-24 Nikita Kucherov: 81 Games - 144 Points - 44 Goals - 100 Assists (Nathan Mackinnon came a close 2'd with 140 pts)

Jaromir Jagr's best 4 seasons in NHL:
1995-96: 149 Points - 62 Goals - 87 Assists (Played with Mario Lemieux who swept all the awards that season)
1998-99: 127 Points - 44 Goals - 83 Assists (Dead Puck Era; Teemu Selanne came second with 107 pts)
2000-01: 121 Points - 52 Goals - 69 Assists (Dead Puck Era; Joe Sakic came close 2'd with 118 pts)
2005-06: 123 Points - 54 goals - 69 Assists (Close second to Art Ross winner Joe Thornton who had 125 pts)

The comparison was likely prompted by the similar highs for European forwards of 149 points by Jagr and 144 by Kucherov.

And in that 95-96 season with Lemieux, young Jagr may have been similar value to Kucherov.

But ironically, it's when league scoring went down and he was lapping the field, or winning an Art Ross while playing 62 games where he reached heights Kucherov hasn't seen. And I say that as a huge enjoyer of Kucherov.

In their Art Ross wins, they statistically dominated the field in a similar fashion when comparing them to the # 5 scorer, 10 scorer, #25 etc...

That Kucherov and MacKinnon seemingly are matching peak McDavid is throwing a wrench into narratives about how those three players should be viewed.

Before 23/24, Kucherov was closer to Kane than he was to Jagr, Crosby, OV, peak Malkin, and McDavid. MacKinnon was also on that level.

Kucherov, at age 30, hit a level he had never reached before.
