Stars have a 16 man roster with $5,323,334 of cap space. Notable UFA/RFAs from there team are: Benn, Duchene, Granlund, Dadonov, Ceci, Bourque, and Lundkvist.

I see them not re-signing Benn, Granlund, Dadonov, and Ceci.

But you'd like to think they'd definitely sign Duchene and the RFAs.

Reports came out on the Stars broadcast that Benn told Nill to focus on pending UFA’s they want to keep before they come to terms on a deal.

Stars brass are high on Duchene and the feelings appear to be mutual with Duchene. Chances are he re-ups on another team friendly deal.

Bourque shouldn’t cost much.

Dumba getting moved out seems very likely and there’s a chance Marchment will be moved too if they need more space.

As for Benn … he’s probably the biggest lock to re-sign, and it sounds like it will be a fairly decent home discount.

They'll find a way to bring Benn back for sure

Duchene they'll try, but it'll be up to him if he still wants to take less money.

Lundkvist will be cheap if they bring him back. Granlund, Dadonov both walk. Ceci maybe they re-sign for cheap.

Offer sheet for Borque might be a risk. Would Dallas match 5m (2nd round pick comp)?

Probably not tbh. No team is gonna offer Bourque $5m though.

I also think Robertson is a trade candidate, but probably depends on how he performs in the playoffs. Dumba will almost certainly be moved. Marchment probably too

They won't be as stacked next season without some guys taking discounts

Well let's see...

Based on the current roster, the Stars have $90,176,666 committed to the cap in 2025-26, which is $5,323,334 in cap space on a roster of 16 (8F/6D/2G)... to fill out a 22-man roster (13F/7D/2G) they need 5 forwards and a defenseman and would only have $887,222 for each of those 6 roster spots.

As other have mentioned, Dumba will be gone. At a 3.75m cap hit for 1 year and 3.5m owing, I can't imagine it costs more than a 2nd to dump is contract.

That makes things much more manageable and would have about 1.295m per player for the 7 to fill out the roster.

I also think it makes sense to move out Marchment's contract as it would make adding depth so much easier.

Of course, Seguin's health also could be a factor. If he's done, then I don't think they have to move anyone (but I think thy woud still move on from Dumba)

I also think Bourque will be a prime candidate for an offer sheet.... not only will it be extremely difficult for Dallas to match, but he's likely to get considerably more money and playing time elsewhere.

If I were the Flames GM, I would offer Dallas our lowest 1st and a 3rd for Bourque as it'd be more than they'd get from an offer sheet. and I could easily see a team offer him 2 years with a 4.5-5m AAV, even if he isn't worth it right now because they'd gain his RFA rights for after the contract, when he may be worth the QO.

They could also just go bargain bin hunting as they have all the key pieces locked up.

That top line RD is just as hard to find as a top 15 C in the league IMO.
Maybe they go big, drop a lot of salary in trade and trade for Dobson?

With the cap rising alot, I don't think a 1 or 2 year 5m contract is that risky to acquire a guy like bourque if they think he can be a decent middle 6 player or more in the future. Some teams with lots of space may see him as a better fit than spending 5m in free agency on an older guy.

Duchene and Benn will likely sign team friendly deals. Bourque can move up the lineup. Dumba SHOULD be gone and you forgot Bichsel. Nill will make it work.

Seguin's deal only has two years left. They can move it probably
It's possible, especially after his bonus is paid out July 1. But in the end he has full control.

There are 15.1m in payments remaining after this season, but 5.25m is paid July 1, so a 9.5m cap hit for 2 years with just 9.85m in cash owing might entice a team like Chicago or San Jose if Seguin is willing to waive his NMC

Dcore is more like

Harley -Heiskanen
Lindell-Lyubushkin
Bichsel- x

With Dumba shot into the sun(hopefully)

What would you want for Marchment? Or Robertson?
Marchment-nothing significant.
Robertson- a lot

Let’s say they move Dumba’s full cap hit without anything back. They’ll have $9m to fill four bottom six wingers, a top4 dman, and a couple extras. That’s extremely tight….Duchene is not taking that much of a discount. They’ll need to go bargain bin hunting for next year. 26-27 season they’ll be fine with the big cap jump.
