Even if Larkin say yes? Yzerman needs to talk to Larkin before he does anything. Remember Larkin already was angry after Bert trade. We don't know , we just trying to guess.

No. And I don’t want to be a team with overpaid over the hill Larkin and DeBrincat on our 3rd line and not enough top-end talent on the 1st two lines to win anything.Do you want to be like Buffalo or how Edmonton was for years?
A perfect rebuild requires having veterans on the roster too… I would argue that this list is what makes a good rebuild
1) Draft luck and development
2) create a competitive environment for the younger players
3) veteran leadership to show the kids the ropes on what it takes to be a pro and keep them accountable
Trading away Larkin is probably the second worst idea I’ve heard on this forum since those who wanted to lock up Justin Abdelkader and defended that monstrosity of a contract.
The team is on the cusp of finally turning the page and being relevant again. Why trade away the captain who’s a native of the area, good community guy (by the sounds of it) and a fan favourite (except for a couple of you fat sweaty dudes who are totally blowing out of proportion the comments made my Larkin in regards to the TDL).
The senators are ahead of the wings with their rebuild. They acquired a Vézina calibre goaltender. The Habs are not. The Habs went on a Cinderella run and will be brought back to reality by next season. It is disappointing that the Wings did not make the playoffs, but I don’t think they’d be doing any better than both teams mentioned above.
The playoff experience for our young core players can happen next year (and is on pace to happen). The fact that they were still in the race going into the last week of the season is still very good experience.
I’ve said it numerous of times and I’ll say it again. Look at the rookies who finished the year on the Wings. Look at Lucas Raymond. Look at Mo Seider. All had incredible improvements. Look at what we have cooking in GR and overseas. So many kids almost ready to make the next push. The light at the tunnel is finally approaching… and some of you now want to trade Larkin, I think EA sports GM mode really has some of you thinking backwards on how this rebuild is supposed to work.
The real important questions for this team moving forward is not what will Larkin obtain in a trade? But more importantly…
This offseason will be an important one for Yzerman and co. How much will they spend and on who. Will we overpay for a Bennet type of player? Will the player(s) signed align with salary increases from the current core group? Are we trading away some of our picks around the time of the draft for an upgrade? Does Bergren get packaged with our 1st for a young top 6 upgrade?
Anyways we are in for a long off season until some of these key questions will be answered.
I guess we will have to learn to disagree.No. And I don’t want to be a team with overpaid over the hill Larkin and DeBrincat on our 3rd line and not enough top-end talent on the 1st two lines to win anything.
Trade them now. Trade them now and the picks we get in return will be hitting their prime right as we enter our Seider/Raymond-led contention window.
Wait one yr…Larkin and Cat have less value…draft picks are a yr away from prime in our prime.
Wait two yrs…Larkin and Cat have even less value…and draft picks are 2yrs away from prime in our prime.
Etc.
Get it?
If Larkin and Debricat could return high top ten picks back I might be for it. But again, if they go somewhere it’s likely to a contending team thus a 15 or below pick which may not return the same value.I guess we will have to learn to disagree.
I don’t think what you are proposing to do is a good process.
Especially since you’re forcing to Michigan natives out. One who’s been a wings fan all of his life and the other who forced a trade onto the team.
That’s not a good message being sent to all future UFAs.
I understand your urgency to capitalize on a strong season from both Cat and Larkin, but I don’t think that trade would sit well with current young core players either. Kind of seems like a giant mess of a situation. In my opinion doesn’t seem like a good recipe to succeed. Very NHL EA sports-esque
I don’t think (as fans) we would be willing to give up what it takes to get a Fantilli or MacTavish type of player. Try to pry an unhappy player from a team. I wouldn’t mind offer-sheeting some RFAs either. If Larkin and Debricat could return high top ten picks back I might be for it. But again, if they go somewhere it’s likely to a contending team thus a 15 or below pick which may not return the same value.
I’d rather see Yzerman try and wing something for a younger roster player if that was the case. Throw in our 1st round pick for perhaps a MacTavish or Fantilli if they feel it’s a good value.
Dimitri Buchelnikov – (C) Dylan Larkin – Lucas Raymond
Amadeus Lombardi – Marco Kasper – Mitch Marner
Alex DeBrincat – (A) Andrew Copp – Patrick Kane

Jonatan Berggren
Austin Watson
Albert Johansson – Moritz Seider
Simon Edvinsson – Axel Sandin-Pellikka
Ben Chiarot – Erik Gustavsson
Justin Holl
Petr Mrazek
Cam Talbot
This will literally never happen. Buchelnikov is not coming here next year. Marner will not sign with Detroit. Only defensive add was rookie ASP?? That Lombardi is not making opening night roster. That team is not making the playoffs again. Video game roster.Red Wings buyout F Vladimir Tarasenko.
Red Wings sign F Mitch Marner to a 8 year deal worth 105 million, 1 million dollar signing bonus, 13 million dollar salary.
Red Wings resign LHD Albert Johansson to a 2 year contract worth 4.5 million, 2.25 million dollar salary.
Red Wings resign F Patrick Kane to a 1 year contract worth *4.5 million, 2 million dollar salary with 2.5 million in potential bonus money.
Red Wings resign F Elmer Soderblom to a 2 year contract worth 2.25 million, 1.125 million dollar salary.
Red Wings resign F Jonatan Berggren to 1 year minimum salary.
Adds: Mitch Marner, *Dimitri Buchelnikov, *Amadeus Lombardi, *Axel Sandin-Pellikka
Losses: Tyler Motte, Christian Fischer, Dominik Shine, Vladimir Tarasenko, Alex Lyon
Bring-Backs: Albert Johansson, Patrick Kane, Elmer Soderblom, Jonatan Berggren.
Leaves trade flexibility to add or sell and an outside hopeful shot at picking up someone on waivers to replace Holl at any point in season. Outside of Marner brinks truck. Nothing earth shattering.
Mazur/Danielson/Cossa/Tuomisto/Buium likely all itching for a call up.
I'll tell you the truth... No matter what I post. It's prolly not happening. This will literally never happen. Buchelnikov is not coming here next year. Marner will not sign with Detroit. 14M for the first year, 13M for year 2-8?Red Wings sign F Mitch Marner to a 8 year deal worth 105 million, 1 million dollar signing bonus, 13 million dollar salary
I actually did not know that. An yeah I dropped the Brinks. I think he'll get near that money from *whatever* team he signs with this offseason. It's his market to make this year.14M for the first year, 13M for year 2-8?
For us to give him 8 years we would have to trade for him. Just adding that…
Yeah, I think he will get that too. I am not against giving him around 13M. Cap is going up next few years, so we will have enough for Edvinsson and the other young players. Besides, we will have a lot of ELCs.I actually did not know that. An yeah I dropped the Brinks. I think he'll get near that money from *whatever* team he signs with this offseason. I don't like the idea of trading for him unless it's like a prospect plus mid round pick for the right to sign I guess?
Yet somehow they just barely missed out the playoffs the past two years while having one of the best prospect pools in the entire league. Larkin whined a lot, maybe he should have taken a look at the last three years in March where the team consistently bottled playoff spots? What happened? The recent Larkin exit interview highlights a larger problem as the kids leave initial contracts, needed trades never happen and proactive early contracts aren’t given. It took all summer and into camp to deal with two kids we knew we had to lock-in long term last year. Those thinking Marner is an option aren’t paying attention - no way Yzerman pays him. Some of you spend way more time solving RedWing issues than Yzerman ever does. We need a change at GM to move forward in my opinion.
No doubt there is a lot to assumption on my part for sure. (at least with what i posted)Yeah, I think he will get that too. I am not against giving him around 13M. Cap is going up next few years, so we will have enough for Edvinsson and the other young players. Besides, we will have a lot of ELCs.
That said, I think we should spend some of the free cap space on defense this off season. Would be nice if we could ship Holl and/or Tarasenko out.
I think Johansson will get a lot better actually. For his size, and playstyle, was pretty good already. Now, he won't grow taller, but I think he will put on some muscle this summer, which should help his play style. No doubt there is a lot to assumption on my part for sure. (at least with what i posted)
Have to assume Johnsson is resigned and gets better. Have to assume ASP can play over and is an upgrade above Johansson/Holl/Gustavsson/Petry on the right side. Have to assume Chairot on the third line is better depth than Petry/Holl/Gustavsson/Lageson from last year.
I didn't think any of that was totally crazy Outerspace stuff. One poster insisted so. Maybe it is.
Hardest thing predicting right now is which, if any, forward prospects make the team and I put two on the first two lines. Lol.
I left a lot to assumption for sure.
Have to assumed Albertson is resigned and gets better. Have to assume ASP can play over and is an upgrade above Albertson/Holl/Gustavsson/Petry on the right side. Have to assume Chairot on the third line is better depth than Petry/Holl/Gustavsson/Leggason from last year.
