How do we feel about Jakob Chychrun?

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Also wish people would stop mentioning the Arizona trade. Holland wasn't even rumoured to be going after Chychrun even without the trade. Just like how people keep mentioning the Quincey trade, when there was a decent chance Holland wasn't picking Vasi with that pick. Losing the 1st for Quincey sucks, but I doubt Holland was picking Vasi there.

Also, we have confirmation that Holland was never going to draft Quinn Hughes. So while he's made lots of awful decisions, at least he was really confident in making them!

Provorov is probably a more realistic pick-up. Chychrun seems like he'll probably try to stay in Washington.

Both will get paid though. But, Provorov at 8-9x6 would still be worth it imo.

You lock up a guy who'll be your 3#D for atleast 4 years.

Provorov-Seider
Edvinsson-X
Chiarot-Johansson

From what I understand in the little poking I did Washington is already talking extension with him. There were some interesting comments that players might do shorter deals to gamble that the cap goes up. Given his injury history though I think he would be smart to sign long term.

From all reports I read he sounds like he really feels home there. I would rank this as not happening. Even if he does hit the market we will be competing with literally everyone.

Well ppl can forget about him now lmfao that was quick ... 9 mill per for a guy who’s pretty much always injured and been a 40-50 pt guy

No thanks ... he’s been good but he can’t be trusted to be in the lineup ... sabres are learning all about that with the dumbass cozens trade with josh norris still out

Got edvinsson to give the big bucks and hopefully pellika is a stud as we hope. Chase a Romanov, k’ Miller and give them 6-7.5 . It’s quite evident these players don’t make it to free agency

Maybe make an offer sheet somewhere and hope for something . Broberg would have been a great move to have made. Don’t know who’s out there but I’d look at the rfa’s and get johansson edvinsson kasper locked up ASAP so we can’t be targeted back as retribution

The Caps mgmt knows more than I do. But, it feels like this season is a flash in the pan and the entire team is overachieving.

I never had a doubt he'd re sign in Washington, but it seems weird to throw big money at a guy in his prime while it looks (to me at least) they're going to be rebuilding soon.

But maybe I'm wrong and they're going to be a dominant force for a long time after Ovechkin 🤷‍♂️

Na caps are good , they lucked out unlike us with holland at the realm drafting horribly and desperately trying to keep our playoff streak alive

Mcmichael is having a good year , protras is a steal on a steal of a contract and the caps also drafted his 6’5 brother who’s scoring like crazy as well . Leonard coming ... ya they’ll be good for a while

I think we’ll be ok ... We need the likes of buchelnikov, kiiskinen,Lombardi,Finnie etc... to pan out and be better than ppl originally thought and I think a few can ... too many guys playing great right now we’d have to have the worst luck in the world if they all fail or turn into mediocre guys lol

But ya back to capitals I think they’ll be good for a while unlike the pens

Nearly everybody on their top 6 is scoring well above their previous highs (excluding Ovie). Screams overachievers to me. Once again, perhaps I'm wrong. But what a weird year for EVERYBODY to suddenly find their game?

Maybe it’s just one of those years but the young guys like mcmichaels, protras suddenly showing up I don’t think so. Been watching a lot more caps cause I had bet on protras for shots on goal like 5 times lol he’s good man he’s been setting up ovie of late ... Dubois who everyone thought was finished is playing well

Cole Hutson is coming as well, forgot about him ... if he’s anything like he’s brother caps have a good one. I think they’ll be ok for a while ... they won’t have to rebuild for 15 yrs like the pens

Gavrikov, Provorov need to be the UFA targets, and K. Miller and Romanov as trade targets. We cannot go into the next season with Ben Chiarot in the top 4.
Romanov and Miller are rfa’s ... do we dare an offer sheet or threaten those teams with one? Hague ... Byram As well but sabres probably match anything

Forward’s id target mctavish but I’m sure Verbeek matches

Trade for them. Our 1st this year should absolutely be in play. Miller isn't worth that but Romanov is worth that and more. I wouldn't blink twice at 12-13 OV + Johansson for Romanov.

At some point aggressive moves need to be made to try and contend/improve with this core.

If we continued to fall down to 7-8 I might be inclined to deal the 2026 pick top 10 protected if it’s like 14th this year sure but I’m sure they’d wait till it came to they’re draft spot to see if someone they have high is available but yes I’d make moves for guys like Romanov no can be here and be a part of the future longterm

I don’t know if we’d need more Americans or Canadians though?

Romanov seider
Edvinsson pellika
Wallinder johansson

If wallinder and pellika Pan out could be a really good d core but think we’d need to add a few North Americans . I got hopes for Buium
