How did the Kings go from having one of the deepest RHD depth in the league to where they can't even really stomach Doughty getting injured?

Just two years ago, Kings had Doughty, Roy, Spence, Durzi, Walker, Clarke, and Faber all in their system. That's enough RHD to create 2 teams worth of RHD depth better than even some contenders in the RHD department.

Now, with Doughty injured, they have only Spence and Clarke as their notable RHDs. Spence is fine but not amazing, and Clarke is still raw.

Rob Blake went all Highlander and decided there could be only one (RHD)....himself.

Shouldn't trade let go of Durzi. He's a gem.
Had to trade Durzi to clear cap for Dubois.

And he had to trade Faber AND a first for a guy who can't play with anybody else that wants to touch the puck because they were that one 2nd liner away from a Cup.

And he had to hang on to Roy instead of recouping any picks so they wouldn't be embarrassed again by Edmonton.

Rob Blake is quite possibly the worst GM in hockey, that’s how.

Sold the farm on the wrong players at the wrong time (Fiala and PLD) when the roster wasn’t ready to contend.

Paid for his sins of bad contracts at the cost of walker and Durzi.

There just isn’t any tangible game plan with Blake, and it has turned an embarrassment of riches into a trove of despair.

Pickering, Ontario
Vilardi --> PLD deal
Durzi --> Got a 2nd
Faber & 2nd --> Fiala deal
2024 2nd --> PLD deal
2024 2nd --> Provorov deal
2023 1st & 2023 3rd --> Gavrikov & Korpisalo deal

So much picks and youth pissed away for players that didnt work within the kings future core

Also bad drafting/development

Turcotte --> 50A in 2019 is a huge bust

Kupari --> 20th OA in 2018 was a bust and dealt in PLD deal

Pinelli --> 42nd OA in 2021, journey is pending but terrible rookie AHL year which gives concerns to his potential NHL impact

Hedge Grans --> 35th OA in 2021, will be a bust, but kings at least dealt him as part of Provorov deal

Bjornfot --> 22nd OA in 2019 and was a big piece in Muzzin deal, was a huge bust

Akil Thomas --> 51OA in 2018, journey is still pending but likely a bust for the kings
