"He fights. He scores. Wendel Clarkson!!!"

Leaf fans have been against Clarkson the day his contract was signed, and dead against him since 2 months into his first season. This is BS and you know it.

There is not one leaf fan who thinks he is a wendal player, and if this was ever posted, it was a joke.

That comes from this (and it remains to be seen whether or not the Toronto Sun should actually be counted as 'Maple Leaf fans'):

Quite a lineup.

12 "XXX" + Strome (not a sure thing). ;)

The XXXX's doesn't mean there are no players there, just that they aren't core players. Building a forward group around someone like Strome + Nylander, Kadri and JVR is quite strong, a D around Rielly + 2 potential big chips from Kessel and Phaneuf trades is quite strong and Bernier is a more than capable #1 G.

Not really... With Nylander, Kadri and say Strome down the middle the Leafs are set at C, they have Rielly who has looked phenomenal despite the Leafs falters, and Bernier in net. If they decide to blow it up, Phaneuf and Kessel for D prospects/young D and this team will be potentially strong in all positions. Your looking at

JVR - Strome - XXXX
XXX - Nylander - XXXX
XXXX - Kadri - XXXX

Rielly - D from Kessel trade
Gardiner - D from Phaneuf trade
Percy - XXXX

Bernier

Obviously a lot would have to go right, but with one great pick (i.e. Storme) and the right trades the pieces are in place.

Im not trying to cause trouble but its this kind of thinking that got them in so much trouble. I admit I dont follow The Leafs that closely but it seems to me that they need a complete overhaul. Starting with management.

I really don't think the Leafs are that bad of a team.

If there ever was an argument in favor of "intangibles", this would be a good example. What I see is a team devoid of leadership and rotten at the core, with few quality veterans mentors.

Sure, their defense needs a serious upgrade, but there's absolutely no reason for a team with as much offensive talent and, for once, decent goaltending to fail year after year after year in such colorful fashion.

The problem starts with Phaneuf and Kessel, both of which should be traded as far as possible from Toronto, as soon as possible.

I think both would better off not being 'the guy' IMO
