Shanny jumped the shark when he handed to the keys to Dubas. Some of us saw it from a mile away but Shanny had his blinders on.
Some would argue he still has blinders on

That's silly. The Leafs should have their best chance to reach the Cup final since the early 90's baesd on the quality of the Eastern conference.
How sad that we had to wait 8 years for the eastern conference to turn crappy so we could compete.

You could say the same thing about any team in the east. It’s not like the Leafs got better, but more a case of Cats are still hungover and the Bruins got a lot worse.

Now that it has, take advantage of it.
Miller is most likely being traded to the East. Good luck if he goes to NJ, NYR or Carolina because he is almost guaranteed not to be coming to Toronto thanks to the Gord Stellick of this generation.

I have no idea what this Leafs team is again but odds are they shit the bed like they usually do in April and May.

Canes and Devils are better than the Leafs. Shesterkin can beat the Leafs on his own. We need this leopard to change it's spots to get to the SCF. I would not bet on it.

The jury is out on Washington for me. They are be best team in the East. Question is whether they can do it in the playoffs.

If the Rangers go on a run and make the playoffs they might be a tough out. They have similar problem to the Leafs in that some of their high priced players haven’t shown they’re good enough

The way they are playing now. I would pull the trigger on a forced Marner trade and get the absolute best return possible. Matthews doesn't look like he is going to have a healthy playoff and we have a cap crisis upcoming. They need to resolve it immediately before they box themselves In a corner.

What cap crisis? They have 26mil in a flat cap or 30mil if it goes to what has been talked about.

I don't think Carolina or jersey are better than the leafs. I'm also not sure what to think about Washington. It's hard to imagine they can keep up this pace.

Canes and Devils are as good or better than the Leafs IMO. Canes are deep everywhere except in goal. Both teams will add by the TDL. Leafs will have to change their spots to beat them in the playoffs. I'm not betting that the same 3 guys can get it done in year 9 with this bottom 6 and a defense that offers virtually zero offence.

A full rebuild is in order, sellers not buyers. This Leafs team is in jeopardy of missing the playoffs. Ottawa and Montreal will likely finish above them in the standings.

Marner should be traded. Ask him to give his list of teams and get him out of here. Colorado sent a strong message with Rantanen.

No accountability. Same old lack of determination and push back as years past at the same time of year. Its a core characteristic that a coach can't change.

Tre will probably add around the edges like last year (2nds and lower) and continue building in the summer. Unfortunately this is what 3-4 years of dumping prospects and picks does to an organisation.

I think he sees what the rest of us see, which is a conference, and maybe a league, that is ripe for the taking. I think Treliving will buck his own history and go big at this deadline. I suspect that he sees an opportunity to win and will do everything he can to take advantage of it.

They have their strenght and they weakness but overal they are probably at same level they all are at similar level right now.

Carolina was equal or better than the Leafs before they added Ranta for Necas. If NJ adds Miller that is a similar bump. The Leafs are not keeping up with the arms race. If they can buckle down and play at the level they have for stretches so far it might not matter but they aren't squeezing out the tough wins like they did earlier. Maybe Tavares is a bit more important than some have suggested.

Carolina actual second is a guy who had been healthy scratch and who pratically been gifted for free

Kotkaniemi : Probably the worst second center in NHL amount team in playoff or in the mix.

They had a great 3rd line to overcome his lack on their second line.

Defensively Slavin is great

Burns slowing down and not the same player he had been and overal this D is probably the worst group they had last 7 years.

Huge issues with Goaltending, a pretty huge position come playiff timw

They had their strenght and their weakness

For JT MIller and NJ, try to name me the last time a team add a premium offensive player and this trade really made a positive impact with the team able to make a run? That will oush down player ho had been extremely important to the team down, Will remove someone of 1st pp unit from one of best pp, what would make some player unhappy

vegas-- hertl --- lost 1st
NYR - Kane-tarasenko / NJ meier
--- played esche other 1st round lost and second roumd lost ( only 5 game)
Florida --- Giroux ( lost in 1st)

just some exemple coming in mind. those kind of deal a TDL rarely working pretty well come playoff. Addimg Miller would not necessairly make NJ a better team if that split the locker room

Connection between Mikko Rantanen and Maple Leafs' Mitch Marner has weak links

There’s a solid list of centres that Treliving potentially could trade for, one that might include (but is not limited to) Brock Nelson of the New York Islanders, Ryan O’Reilly of the Nashville Predators, Yanni Gourde of the Seattle Kraken, Scott Laughton of the Philadelphia Flyers and Nick Bjugstad of the Utah Hockey Club.

Never mind a deal involving Marner. Upgrading in the middle has to be the priority for Treliving. If you’re the Leafs, you can’t be in a situation in the playoffs where Pontus Holmberg is centring your second line, injuries or not.

Don't trade at all.

This team has no chance.

they are in 1st in the \Atlantic and have been most of the season so mthat is objectively not true . I don;t care that they have lost their last 2 y9un are going to lose games plus one of those 2 came with the 3rd stringer in net against Columbus, again.

Still want them to take the biggest swing possible for either Miller or Josi.

The East is weakened this year and even in the west, Vegas looks great but after that all teams are extremely flawed, there is no juggernaut like the Tampas/Pens/Hawks or Kings of years past.

If it doesn't work so be it, they gave it their best, it's just the core failed simply put.

At the end of the day it's on the core to perform not some rookies to come in and make a massive difference. Tbh that even one of them worked out as well as Knies is more than enough.

If PRIME Rielly/Marner/Nylander and Matthews (and slightly out of prime JT) needed much more help then one of them should've already been dealt not hoping that 25-32 picks turn out to be superstars.
