It was a complete f*** up by everyone but it started with Marner. Made no sense, its 3 on 3, we have possession and good entry, he decides to just throw it away. Easily could've controlled that and generated a better chance. Then on the way back they all f***ed up. Matthews didn't know where to go or who to take, same with Rielly and once again he butchered the coverage. But it all started with that Marner shot, I don't understand what the hell that was. Threw the game away in OT.

Our PP is clueless. Too many times did I see Marner with a good chance to shoot only to see him try to pass or fire a muffin. Thinking you can't have two muffin men on the PP. Move 44 to PP2. 16 in place of Rielly and add Spezza to the right side.

We need a big shot on PP1. Not sure if that's Muzz or not but it's clearly not Mo.
Mitch and Austin also need to stop trying to pass it into the net. Someone has to shoot.

Why are people debating whether it was Matthews' or Rielly's fault when it was Marner that tried skating through three defenders only to cough it up. He's singularly at fault in that whole exchange. It was beyond stupid. There was no panic, no need to rush it, no need to go it alone we had possession and two great players with him on the entry. I'm still pissed about it.

I think they should try Nylander with Matthews Marner. Its clear Hymans chemsitry with JT is better with Willys. Why not try Willy with Matthews Marner the chemistry could be unreal.

Hyman has chemistry with everyone though. Definitely try them in the regular season where we can afford to experiment, but I think it all comes down to what line gets it done when it matters the most. And the top line with Hyman on it have solid chemistry developed over years imo. I just think in the playoffs you do what you do to win.

And the Galchenyuk-Tavares-Nylander line looked good in the games I saw.

Thank god for Big Save Dave otherwise we get nothing out of that one ..

We have huge problems when teams who neutral zone trap us especially Matty and Mitch as they do not play a heavy down low game to retrieve pucks on dump ins which you have to know how to play when teams play like that (and Flames are nowhere near as good as CLB or CAR at it) ... good to see Keefer saw it in 3rd and put Jumbo there which created 3 solid shifts for those guys and created da 4 minute PP ... this is exactly why I say Gally won't be on either of top 2 lines because he just does not have ability to separate defenders from pucks in playoff hockey ... it is why Sens and Habs gave up on him because he is not skilled enough to differentiate himself and he can't help out in other ways ... he is better than Vesey but not a top 2 liner ..

Zach can beat da trap game as he can provide net front presence like goal 1 or he can separate a defender from a puck and created goal 2 as well ... move Zach to line 1 and it will be same result for line 1 ... with foligno about to join team for stretch run we should have 2 lines that can beat da neutral zone trap with dump ins so not really worried at all ...

Then with Nash Mik and Simmonds we should be able to form a 3rd line which can create some havoc through trap too and check well ...

But last night, like night before, our biggest issues are on defense right now ... I am hoping it is just 2 off games where vets decided to mail it in but it is concerning ... Muzzy man what da h*ll man common man?????????? you can play so much better .. Holl why did you even bother to lace em up??????????? ... got so bad Keefer had to move up Dermy who is only guy who has played well past 2 games ... and Rielly common man you have badly regressed on defense like super bad ... you just didn't forget to play 2on1's man ... just do your job man stop pass over and let tender take da shooter it is f*ckin simple man ... play FFFFFFFFFIN D men ... if you don't wanna play D then fine stay in da dressing room we don't need ya

Sittler was a prince every time I met him. Signed a glossy for free. Some people have days where they're just trying to get to the end of it without letting anyone know what's going on behind the obligations of the gig.

I don't get the negativity either. I don't live in Toronto, but just imagine I did, and I saw DS at the grocery store. I would look him in the eye, give him a tip of my Leafs hat, and go upon my way.

Our PP is not even setting up well enough to be predictable. Matthews is not even in a spot to be dangerous, so how can they predict that is going to happen when he is not even there to make it happen.

When our PP is at its best, we have multiple options:
- Rielly shooting the puck for a tip or getting the puck through a screen.
- Marner looking cross seam or into the bumper spot for Tavares and Matthews, or possibly shooting at a screened goalie.
- Tavares in the bumper spot, in front of the net, or occasionally in space if it is available.
- Simmonds or Hyman in front of the net to jam in a goal or rebound.

The issue is that, other than Rielly and Tavares, nobody is really in position to have those options be available. The net front guys don't battle or move into a space to make themselves available. Matthews is always too high and not in a dangerous spot, or is easily covered when he is because they don't move the puck fast enough to open options.

The way we move the puck in the zone right now is mostly Marner just skating around the boards until someone strips him or Rielly taking a shot from the blueline that gets blocked because nobody else is open... Which is dumb because we have an extra guy on the ice and if guys would move, there should be plenty of options available for goals.

We move around the zone better at ES than we do on the PP and that is a problem. They should literally just employ the strategy they have at ES right now. At least that is leading to goals.

If they were mentally weak they wouldn't be first in the division by a mile. They would be more like the Habs.

Granted it’s an overreaction on my part from being highly frustrated about their PP, but the ‘tired’ excuse doesn’t fly. Almost every team is tired this season given the schedule. Back to back games playing like ass is not ok.
