Vegas is the total opposite of the Habs. They don't stay long on mediocraty players. They adjust very fast and they keep a winning culture. Habs are stuck with long term anchors, when a player suck, he will play his entire contract time with us, sabotage the developpment of the kids and keeping that losing culture of "I don't f**ing care". It's a very frustrating situation and it could stick like a glue for a decade. I imagine when will come the time to sign good ufa players if the players will want to be part of that shitty losing team, hahaha. Vegas is the kind of team to attract the best players available and there are other top teams too like Boston, Rangers, Tampa and Colorado.
It helps enormously when EVERY eligible player in the league won’t even think twice about waiving their NTC/NMC to get dealt there or sign as UFA

No one cares
You just described most successful NHL teams. Passive but efficient base game with the skill to pounce if the opposing team has a system breakdown.
100 percent correct! That's exactly what good teams have the luxury of doing. We are so lacking in talent and depth and when we don't play as well as we can we get stomped. Our best is nowhere near enough and yes there are games when we catch an opponent by surprise but it's rare.

Plus, Vegas is a heavy, big sized team — the type that Habs usually struggle against. Probably something management will look to address further, to ensure a more optimized asset mix.

We won the third period
Good for the morale

Another game into the proverbial toilet.

Which reminds me -- I couldn't believe when I saw this contraption in @dinodebino's car:

Apparently, it turns into a bidet whenever he hits speed bumps and potholes. :sarcasm:

Can we quantify if Slaf is the 1OA that shoots the least on net in the history of the draft? Maybe Owen Powers shot less per game? I'm not even sure. 22 shots with about a quarter of the season over.
Yes this is a concern

This season Slaf is in Alexander Daigle territory.
Knew it the first time I saw him play a game. Awkward. Clumsy. He reminds me of nichuskin. Took val 5 years to work it out. I think he will work it out but 2 more years required.

Nowhere land
They played their 3rd game in 4 nights on a road trip, how many teams are pushing hard in that case?
It was possible because they are better players and they play a system.

I didn't watch the whole game but I think they played a mature game.

It was their 3rd game in 4 nights, and they looked like a team that knows how to play tired.
That was the result of a team with a good system and better players overall.
