Necas, Lafreniere and a bunch of their 1OA friends would like a word. Plenty of 1OAs and high picks have had slow starts is far from a some shocking anomaly. The whole team is playing like they don’t know hockey, so it’s hard to pin everything on him (same for Dach, same for Newhook). That’s not to say he’ll follow 1OAs' trajectories, but let’s not act like early struggles automatically define a player’s career or where he'll end up playing. There, did I walk you back off the ledge, or simply push you over?

I think you misinterpreted my post. My point is you should not discard a 1OA potential ceiling from unicorn to 2nd liner within 3 years, i.e. A lower ceiling is not a good argument for current poor performance.

I don’t enjoy the blowout losses, but I’m happy to see inconsistency this year. The last couple of years the team was more consistent, but generally worse. Some good games and some bad games with a thin roster is about what we hope for. Thd key now is to let all the young guys reach their peaks. Do whatever Slaf needs to be as good as he can, maybe not s power forward unicorn, but whatever he can do. Try to maximize the offence from Guhle. See what Hutson can do.

The habs have a lot of small guys and role guys, and not many play driving guys who can cover or open space for the rest. As it is some teams will bully them. Longer term they need some key guys, ideally recent top picks and a UFA or two, and they need some big veteran D and bottom 6 guys.

I have more hope with big losses and solid wins than if they were close every night. It’s not like the team just has to add one scorer to win, once they hit the next phase they need a lot of changes. They will need to overpay for some vets, and choose those guys carefully.

I fell asleep after Vegas started scoring, jet lag is nasty like that. So I take it, we weren't physical or fast enough for the top team in the West?

Call me negative or whatever, but the whole situation should not happen in the first place. They need to put a carpet, one of the kids almost fell like 3 times and last year it was even much worse. Falling backwards on the ice isn't great, as we all know. And yeah good move from Anderson, but bad for the management team in my book. With all that being said I hope they still had a very nice evening even though we lost.

There's a pre game ceremony on YouTube from the mid 80s where the Habs were celebrating their 75th anniversary. A bunch of former Habs came on the ice with their gear on for their introductions. That included joliat who would have been in his mid 80s at the time.

Anyways, he was putting on a show for the fans, and took at least one really hard spill. One of them, he seemed to have no clue that there was a red carpet on the ice.

It seemed like most people were having a laugh and weren't too concerned about it. Different times.

No one cares
If Vegas is the top team in the West the West is even worse than I thought.
I can't see why you would say that. The regular season is not a measuring stick for a team that has won a cup. The experience gained from that was very evident last night, the way they did so many little things right made it tough for our young players to do anything.

They weren't suffocating us with the forecheck, but I noticed that every time we had the puck, a Knights player was within very close proximity to our puck carriers and shut it down. They have very good stick work and are great at breaking things up with minimal effort.

If we ever get a roster as composed as that one the rebuild will have been successful.

Can we quantify if Slaf is the 1OA that shoots the least on net in the history of the draft? Maybe Owen Powers shot less per game? I'm not even sure. 22 shots with about a quarter of the season over.

Bro are you f***ing serious? You're gonna bring Pezz as the savior to this f***ing garbage team?

We are bottom of the league because that's where we belong. We have not talend at forward, and goalies are trash. And the dman are poorly coached, at best.

f***ing Pezzetta ain't gonna change shit lmao

Guys like Pez don't take shifts off, they finish hits and they care. Nobody is saying he's a solution to the skillset or offense, but there's almost nobody he couldn't replace at this point. I think it sends a message that this bullshit isn't going to be tolerated, this 'show up for one period' hockey. Pez skates hard, plays hard, he deserves to play more often than not. What message are we sending by letting these f***ing floaters show up every game and give zero effort? Rotate him in the lineup for some energy at least. I agree he's not going to show up on the score sheet, but he's a good guy to have on the bench. f*** Armia, Dvorak and Dach, and I'm about done with Slaf and the rest of the idiots too. Slaf isn't the same guy since he got his new contract, and it doesn't kick in till next year... Jesus.. 8 million for this bullshit?

I'd like to bring Jared Davidson up.
We have soooo many passengers that simply disappear? Our core kids are watching vets & others simply going through the motions and replicating the same effort??? I would love to have Pat Burns around to kick some ass. Davidson may not have the speed but he’ll give you the effort!

I known what we are, a club rebuilding, but that’s no excuse for lazy play! Say what you want about our team but I’m telling you we need more dogs in our lineup! Players who desire one simple compliment “you really worked hard out there tonight”.

Agreed. Pezz just brings some energy which is what some of the players are sucking out of this team. What a bunch of floaters overall.

Slaf gets 1 million $ for every 10 shots on net. I would say that's a good deal.

Anaheim and Preds are apparently the club with dynfunctional locker rooms this year and we have yet to see players fighting each others during practices...

But there is definitively something rotten in the Habs locker room or around it. Slaf talked about playing well when he listen to Marty in his latest blog, but that Marty's voice gets drowned by too many others...
It's not like we have that many coaches... Marty, Robidas, and Letowski... hardly a crack team

Look at Washington - They have 5 assistant coaches under Carberry, and they have been playing great hockey and getting a ton of value out of former cast offs

Why are people trashing a guy that isn't even playing lol. How can he be any worse than the dysfunctional losers on this team right now?

The inconsistency was entirely expected.

The team had been trending the right way and then we get stomped. Pretty much inline with what a .500 team would be.

Now, we’re not a .500 team. Terrible start. But we’ve been so much better lately. Hopefully we bounce back and stay .500 the rest of the way. That’s what I’m hoping for. Tangible improvements that we can look at by the end of the year.

Caufield’s numbers are way off what they’ve been in previous years though. Great that his shot has returned but you need to get shots to score and that’s not happening now. Maybe they should just put the first line back together. At least then we’d have one line working.

I love what Vegas has been doing since they came into the league. They rarely go after reclamation projects and if they do and are not successful, they quickly readjust. The coach hirings haven’t been too shabby either. They go right for the jugular and get the top players and coaches and are not afraid to sacrifice elite prospects. Rebuilds are not exclusively successful with draft picks alone but one thing is for certain, gambling on doing a rebuild with an inexperienced coaching staff is just plain stupid

I wasn't impressed by Vegas last night. They just played a conservative system of play. They just had to wait for the mistakes and be at the right spot to score. They never pushed hard their machine, it looked like a routine practice last night.

they probably dumbed it down for their opponent last night, so they weren't accused of beating up on a pathetic franchise and bullying.

Vegas is the total opposite of the Habs. They don't stay long on mediocraty players. They adjust very fast and they keep a winning culture. Habs are stuck with long term anchors, when a player suck, he will play his entire contract time with us, sabotage the developpment of the kids and keeping that losing culture of "I don't f**ing care". It's a very frustrating situation and it could stick like a glue for a decade. I imagine when will come the time to sign good ufa players if the players will want to be part of that shitty losing team, hahaha. Vegas is the kind of team to attract the best players available and there are other top teams too like Boston, Rangers, Tampa and Colorado.

You just described most successful NHL teams. Passive but efficient base game with the skill to pounce if the opposing team has a system breakdown.

They played a bad AHL team, what did you expect? They're not gonna deploy Stanley Cup Finales - type of energy if they don't have to.

It was a walk in the park.
