That was supposed to be Laine. Hopefully he won't be like that as well
That’s exactly my concern. Everyone seems to be counting on Laine to perform miracles (me included) when he’s back, but he’s missed a ton of games, hasn't a history of being exactly a beacon of leadership, and with the team playing like shit, it's more likely he’ll just end up blending into the mess instead of making it better.

If you read between the lines during Marty’s press conference, he sounds like he’s exhausted all options. Again, great hockey mine but but he just can’t seem to put it all together. Jim Montgomery would look great behind the bench but my guess is Pittsburgh will try to pick him up. Oh well as Kent says …..

This is so depressing... can't generate anything, the so called core is invisible and the losing culture is creeping in. I still believe in the rebuild but the pure lack of effort so far this season is getting me worried.

Nowhere land
Boff... I don't know whether I will live that long. I definitely don't think I'll live to see the cup.
So depressing.
I was there. That game was depressing. Habs have zero system of play, they all cheat and they lose almost every little battle. Dach is lost, doesn't give enough effort. Slaf wasn't good tonight. Even Suzuki wasn't impressive. I saw little mistakes that became huge mistakes. Vegas just had to wait for the mistakes and score. From my point of view, seems like the pucks went into the net easylly thru Monty.
Fun to be there for the ambiance and the free food (first balcony corporate level) but the game sucked.

I wish the NHL would put in the next CBA a clause for poor performances. Contracts should never be guaranteed. Should be like in the NFL. If you don't perform, we will terminate you. It's crazy to me that someone can cash in 10 Mil a year and then literally give the bare minimum for the duration.

Contracts shouldn't exceed 3 years either. GMs giving albatros contracts that strap future GMs...

Introduce KPIs please.

I will never pay money to watch hockey live or on television.
The product is boring despite high level of skills.

KH needs to stop being a bad GM and take bad reclamation projects as if we were gonna fix them. Wake up. Dach had Kane all of his time in Chicago (past his prime yes, but still an incredible PP player) and Newhook had all the chances in the world to be a complimentary guy to three top 15 hockey players in the world and still couldn't do it. Acquire Matheson who has never been past the first round and has been killing this team sacrificing defense to maintain the illusion that he's a 50-60 pt offensive dynamo. Keep Slafkovsky on the team as an 18 year old while he's barely a midget AAA level skater (no seriously, his speed isn't terrible but his instincts and his skating technique is god awful).

We are clamoring for MSL's head while he's not even the cause for all of this stuff. The team KH built is not only bad but also filled with players that are content with being on a bad team if it boosts their point production by 10.

Agreed the gambles on Dach and Newhook seem to fail right now, even though Dach s injury can take time to heal fully, it does not really explain the lack of engagement.
That being said, if you look at the roster, CC is supposed to be an elite sniper, Suzuki an elite two way center, Slaf a power forward superstar 1OA in his D+3 and already signed to a 7m contract. Evans Anderson Gallagher is an overpaid line but definitely an NHL 3rd line Newhook is supposed to be a 3rd liner at worst… etc this team is not supposed to be as bad as it is right now. That is on MSL shoulder for sure.

I don't want to rail on the coaching because believe the issues are much deeper (i.e. talent evaluation, lack of addressing holes in the lineup last summer). Would say though that the team seemed to get off to solid starts when they had veteran coaches. Camp started ok this fall but that was against mainly AHL level rosters. They didn't look prepared to start the season and too many games since then. Would like to hear from Gorton & Hughes soon instead of letting Marty twist in the wind if things continue down the current path.
