That team's in full tank mode...not sure what any coach could do there

Here's a question: Why would the players of a team "tank" if not being coached to do so? Why would the coach coach a team in a tanking mode, if the GM didn't suggest to do so?

I agree though that the Leafs definitely seem to be tanking, but that comes from the top down.
