GDT: home game vs rangers in like 2.5 hours or so

Good game gents, and good luck in the playoffs, esp vs the Devils! Definitely be rooting for you(at least the first round!).

Stankoven is so much fun to watch, going to be tough rooting for him in the future vs the Rangers but he’s going to be a gem! He reminds me of Zuccerello, future PPG player for many seasons.

I would like to see Morrow paired with Slavin. We need to see if Morrow can hang with Jaccob and today would be a good test for that.

But nah, gotta get Burns his 22 minutes
I want to see Slavin rest and see Burns without him

Imagine what our 1st pairing would be like if we had Slavin with a guy around Faber's skill since those two did well together in the Four Nations Tournament.

It'd be nice if Morrow could get some experience with Slavin to see how he is on the 1st pairing. I think with more experience in the NHL, and with Slavin being the defensive anchor of that line and of the team as a whole, Morrow would do well with Slavin.
The difference between this team and Skjei Pesce healthy years is that we would strangle team’s o when up in 3rd

This team doesn’t.
You are 100% right. Slavin-Burns (before Burns' performance went downhill) on the 1st pairing, and Skjei-Pesce on the 2nd pairing was lights out defensively so much.

You're making me feel nostalgic. Our team was scary defensively. We're still overall very good defensively (Slavin carries a lot of the burden), but I don't think we're the defensive juggernaut we used to be. They were an absolute f***ing menace.

From ranger board. Slavin-Burns still bad:

Is Svech still on the team? He’s gone from being an elite player to completely invisible. I sure hope he can get himself some offense these last few games. We absolutely have to get the Svech from a few years ago back again for the playoffs.
That’s the playoff upside.

FWIW I thought he had a good game yesterday (except passing on the PP when he had a grade A location to shoot)

This is a great point, and I'd like to add on to it.

There is no reason we should be thinking about trading stankoven while Svech is completely invisible like this.

Guy has basically done nothing all year.

The risk of trading Svech after the year he's had is that this year could be the result of the numerous injuries he's dealt with. Recovering from his ACL tear, then the added injuries/concussion he dealt with this year could easily explain the down year.

So the question is: Do we think he's going to recover and be useful next year? Or is this simply the new norm for him and we need to move him before other teams figure that out? Both come with their share of risks

All this talk of trading the second hardest working guy on the tea under Jarvis is starting to piss me off..

Stank has 4x the heart Nachos did and He very well could break out like Jarvis if you take him off the damn punishment line

Jarvis, by his own admission, wouldn't be the player he is today if he didn't play with Staal and Martinook. So I don't think putting Stankoven with them could be considered a punishment

You have a point. He's just so damned dynamic I hate to see him on that line. Maybe to RBA it isnt the punishment line but the development line

I'm all for giving Svech next year to get his shit right.

But, I really, really wish someone would work with him to help him develop some kind of scoring touch.

Who ever mentioned trading Stankoven? We just got the f***ing guy. And why would Columbus trade Olivier? They just signed him!! Some of the "trade possibilities" on this board are beyond absurd. Consider context and real life events before tossing out names.
Thank goodness we have your grounded/more knowing posts.....it's a social media board...people throw out takes. Don't like it, ignore it.

Watched on delay so a few thoughts

First 2 periods were pretty dominant, but..

Holy shit that game was starting to feel like out epic game 6 collapse last year, as we've been doing recently we just started f***ing imploding for no goddamn reason. Honestly I think Chatty saved the game, had that gone in to make it 5-4 I have no doubts we would have lost that game.

PK don't know what the f*** is up with him, he's always chaotic but it's been chaotic bad not chaotic good lately

Just like the PLD can-opener on Freddie, that 3rd goal was textbook GI
- Entered the crease on his own...and pushed so hard he took Walker in with him
- made contact with and/or pushed someone into the goalie
- made no effort to avoid contact or get out
- if Walker hadn't been there he would have bowled over Kooch

So I 100% agree with Rod seeing it as GI, but the challenge was stupid because 0% chance they were overturning in our favor. Between the leagues/officiating bias against RBA and Carolina, against an O6 team losing while fighting for their playoff lives, no way he was getting it. The GI calls that go against us (both for goals against and knocking off goals for) is SO lopsided it's surpassed the point of just "bad luck", would love to see a chart but we're so far to the side I imagine it would show as being statistically significant (meaning bias not within the realm of standard deviations).

Our Penalty Kill lately has been playoff-level "meh" at best

Stankoven is f***ing good, slick passer and he has that Jarvis type drive and fearlessness. Blake too has been pretty great lately. Just wish we had some size/physicality to protect them better. When teams get physical we go into our protective shells

Good points....I think that with Carrier back and Nikishin in the lineup our "Smurf" lineup has additional guys with grit to play the physical game. We may see Svetch step up physicality too with the Big defenseman egging him on.

Anyway, the current forward squad has more size than previous playoff iterations. If they play heavy we should be OK....it's our D that is the risk area.

Wish the ref would explain it better like they did in Washington for Blake’s goal. I was curious if they’d use the “time to reset” excuse to allow it. PK gets bumped, brings his leg back square and gets beat over the shoulder. If I squint really hard I could see the he was “set” again.

Its genuinely impressive how baby shit soft that fanbase is when their own shit behavior gets thrown back in their face

This guy is the MSG national anthem singer
