Kings News: Holland officially GM

I'm fine with Hiller staying, he did produce a good regular season result for a team that wasn't exactly loaded with talent. I would assume with what happened in the playoffs that he is on a short leash, but I think he deserved to come back.

Nobody even knows what Emerson's duties actually are, so tough to comment.

Glen Murray keeping his defies any kind of logic.

He became the Kings director of player development in 2018.

He has worked with 14 players taken in the 1st or 2nd round. How many of those players have exceeded the draft capital used on them? You can say Helenius, a 6'6 tough guy. That is it, every other one has failed to live up to where they were drafted.

The best developed prospects for the Kings (Faber, Laf, Anderson) developed away from Murray.

Bolded is such horseshit....minus Faber, he never got near etc.....

But why the f*** are we acting like development stops once they play in the NHL?

How is it horseshit?

The best value picks in the Blake era were those 3. Would you agree?

Most LA prospects ended up in the LA system at a very young age in comparison to the rest of the league. Would you agree?

Those 3 did not end up in LA's system at a young age. Would you agree?

Laf stepped right into the NHL without being in LA's system beforehand. Agreed?

Anderson played less games in the AHL than most other LA prospects. Agreed?

Even if you want to give Murray credit for Laf and Anderson, ok cool go ahead.

other than Laf, Anderson and Helenius. What prospects have lived up to the draft capital used on them?

You think based on the results of the previous seasons, that Glen Murray deserves to keep his job?

Ken Holland looks like grand moff tarken

You may fire when ready!

Holland is saying a lot without answering any questions.
Agree, most of what I picked up from his presser was Detroit and and and and Edmonton and and and and Detroit…Regardless if it anything to do with the question asked. I did like the part about his wife in the bedroom watching a movie or reading a book while he watched hockey.

How many legends do you know of that have successfully and willingly accepted reduced or minor roles within organizations as they aged out?

You don't let players dictate the length of their string to run out. You have to cut their cord and do what's best for the organization.
I agree but look how much hate gets for letting Quick go.

I believe in loyalty and treating players well but GM should always do what’s best for the organisation. Players get NMC’s etc and absolutely have the right to refuse to waive and it’s ridiculous when fans get pissed at players for not doing so, but it’s equally bad when fans get mad when players are moved…. “Because they deserved better”. It’s BS because they all (Franchises and players) treat it as a business when it suits them, which is fine by me. Everyone knows the rules.

However, getting back to the point of your comment I agree. I don’t care how many cups or if someone is HOF bound when it’s time to move (or demote them) it’s time.

FWIW I’d keep Kopitar to play 3C minutes and trade Doughty, if possible. I’d put the C on someone else but still have Kopi in the leadership group. It’s not about Kopitar it’s about smoothing the transition to a new skipper in the last year of his current deal. If we were looking like we were not contenders at the TDL I’d move him to a contender for a last go at a cup. I 100% expect both to be here, but I personally think we’d more likely win a few rounds with a slight retool, to regroup for 26/7.

First of all, it's bullshit because player development doesn't stop once they hit the NHL....

Second of all, we have no idea what Helenius, Laf, Andersson, aptitude was before.....meaning, what if their ceilings were 4th line C, 4th line W and 3rd pairing D.....and they go past that?

This whole bullshit player development issue you have......is you looking on the outside wishing like f*** you were on the inside.....development isn't linear no matter how much you want it to be.

Take NJ, according to you, great development program, Hughes, Hughes, Mercer, etc, ok great, what happened to Nemec? if Nemec gets it clicking in 3 years on another team, is that a NJ fail, or a player finally getting it like a Thompson, a St Louis, a Hull?

I am doing drinking game, a drink every time he mentions Detroit or Edmonton or his years in the game, except I am using water(because I would die of alcohol poisoning within 5 minutes and I put on depends so I can make it thru the press conference without going to the bathroom every 5 mins

Haha, we did the same thing in Edmonton, my friend. He mentioned it in the presser today of it “being hard” in the NHL. You will continually hear this when he isn’t in trades, or doesn’t make improvements. A quote that drives Edmonton fans nuts “you can’t squeeze other GMs” as Holland was continually squeezed by other GMs (and agents)

LOL

Since you and I clearly understand each other, should I watch this movie to further understand our new GM?

Peck Away!! Seems to be one of his catch phrases

But if you see me walking by
And the tears are in my eyes
Peck away, baby, Peck away
If we meet on the streets someday
And I don't know what to say
Look away, baby, look away
Don't peck at me
I don't want you to see me this way

But why would anyone fire a first year coach coming off a 105-point season?

Well.. giving up 19 goals in the 3rd period using his prevent defense and 4 straight losses might have something to do with that. Then there's the ill advised challenge and looking shell shocked after they took the lead 10 seconds later. Other than a few other things, he's a keeper.

Well, because most NHL players are not working with the player development coach? AHL players with a weekend based schedule are spending more time with the development coaches, hence why most AHL teams are local to the NHL team. And why we always hear the "Working with Muzz" line when a player is brought in and assigned there.

But even if that is the case. How many players that Muzz has worked with have exceeded expectations based on where they were drafted?

The last time you brought up Nemec (a weekly thing it seems) in reference to him being in the AHL and how "see NJ puts players in the AHL". I asked you, yeah doesn't that prove that they analyze each case individually, unlike the Kings. You say how there are "Plenty of ways to develop" but then you continually defend the team in the NHL that develops one way.

If there are "plenty of ways to develop players" why are the Kings so strict in doing it only one way?

Ahh and there it is, right on cue, the stupid personal shot. So apparently now I wish I had Glen Murray's job? Last week it was I wished I had John Hoven's job. Earlier in the year it was I wished I had Yannetti's job. I can't wait to see which name you clowns come up with next. Dan Beckerman? Jim Fox? Phil Anschutz?

But just so you know, I am living the dream, I watch sports all day and screw around. I am quite content But thanks for your concern.

Absolutely positively underwhelmed by that press conference. Not even surprisingly whelmed.

And to the people who keep talking up Mitch Marner. Talk about the exact type of soft player the Kings don’t need more of. “Oh but he scores points”. None of you learned anything from those cup winning Kings teams.
