Bingo. "Skates good for a big guy" once was okay. Now it just means he can't keep up in most NHL systems.

which is fine. Sproul isn't the swiftest skater either and yet he has done an admirable job in his limited NHL time. I know you know this, but for others, depth defenders are good to have around

Holden came in and was asked to play a more difficult role than he ever had prior. Always have respect for guys who comehere and play above expectations - because it almost never happens for the Rangers.

Holden will forever be hated for his late-game performances in the playoffs, but we got solid value out of him.

It is always tough for the guys. I do wish them all good fortune. Grabner is probably seeing the writing on the wall as well
Grabner's a good guy. I would love to see him come back next year. He's a third liner even with the goals but as long as he's your third liner you're going to have a third line that can threaten.

I really dont see how Holden sets the market for any of our other guys. Depth defender is a completely different trade discussion than the other guys.

Because if people are paying 3rds for bad defensemen imagine what they’ll pay for an actual star defenseman.

That 3rd round pick has a better chance at being an impact NHL player than oGara.

Oh well we got back something of value for Holden.

I like Valiquette but not sure I buy there was a strategy behind this move.

Seems more like,

Hey anyone want Holden for a 2nd?

No?

How about a 3rd and we'll take back a contract?

Not that I think it's a bad deal, but it's no 2nd and 3rd for Smith.
