I did see that part. It is just as senseless as the rest of it.

-Why would Ottawa send Hoffman to a division rival for pieces when they can move him out West or at the very least to the other division?
-Why would Ottawa acquire Bealieu when they already have too many defenders they cannot protect int he expansion draft?

You make fun of people for "HFBoards" type proposals, but you're the most off base person in this thread. You don't just get near 30 goal scorers in their prime from divisional rivals for easy NHL 16 style trade pieces because they aren't re-signing. When has that ever happened between two division rivals hoping to make the playoffs? It is silly and adds nothing to a discussion because it is so out of touch with reality.

I don't think I agree with your line of thought.

We traded a #1 goalie for a flop in Bishop to a divisional rival.
This is a forum to discuss/gauge value. We're not saying it highly possible or even slightly possible. Just a bunch of rhetorics.
It's not a "guess who the most likely team to trade for Hoffman is and what is the package they'll send back" thread.

Knowing the sens and PD they would probably trade Hoffman + a 2nd for Emelin + DD + maybe a 5th coming back to the sens to make it fair.

yea im sure, Taylor Hall who has WAY more value than Hoffman returned Larsson.. yet an RFA Hoffman (again the assumption here is that Ottawa is looking to trade him, this is what this thread is for) is gonna return Galchenyuk/Gallagher/Sergachev/Pacioretty etc.

Thx for the input.

Except Ottawa are not desperate like Edmonton to get a D. They do not need Beaulieu. They need Hoffman.

I'm pretty sure I'm not wrong when I say that if they are trading Hoffman, it's for another scoring winger (the Zibanejad for Brassard kind of trade).

Beaulieu would be on their 3rd pair (he isn't jumping over Methot and Phaneuf at LD) while Hoffman is pretty much their 1 LW.

Hoffman will resign in Ottawa but if he's really shopped, Ottawa will get good value, 15 teams will be calling for a goal scorer in his prime and will be ready to pay him the money he wants.

It'd start with McCarron if it was me and then add something else.

It's hilarious seeing the offers here though, RFA or not, price depends on demand. Montreal won't be the only team calling for Hoffman don't kid yourselves.

Besides, Ottawa is clearly trying to win now, trading Hoffman is not going to happen and if it did, Montreal would need to give us something that could help us right away, which I don't think they have.

A team trading their 26 year old elite even strength goal scorer to a division rival for lesser pieces rather than shipping them out West for a similar return.. yes indeed were on HFBoards.

Pacioretty/Galchenyuk/Gallagher being "lesser pieces" is absolutely laughable.

I wouldn't trade one of those guys straight up for Hoffman, keep your glorified 30 goal scorer.

This thread is pretty comical.

"Assuming Ottawa isn't looking to resign Hoffman" and "He's an RFA" is code for: Can we give you our scraps and snag a 30 goal scorer in his prime?

No, no you can't. Just because a player is an RFA, it doesn't affect his value like that of an UFA.

It's not about fair value. It's about what it would cost to get your rivals best goal scorer.
