I am reading your words back you you.

"They are hot-take artists"

If you don't like your words, don't say them.
You either don’t understand what the words you read there mean or you’re trying to be intentionally dishonest about what they do mean. That does not mean what you claim it does, and the tell is that you aren’t reciting the plain language to me as a problem. You are crafting a narrative from the plain language because the plain language does not say what you want it to.

Speak for yourself Mr “I have Martone first because I have no actual opinion and I just go by what my team needs and disguise it as an opinion on who is the best.”

Year after year this publication comes out with hot take lists. I say the same thing every year. I don’t find it very realistic, but anyway they are allowed to think that. I’m also allowed to call it that way.

People here have no problem complaining with the consensus lists and trashing them, but because they feel these people are personable (as long as you agree with the owner), they are willing to go to bat for them and then trash the others that they don’t feel a connection to.

Personally, I just call all of the tendencies as I see them. I have no connection to any of them. This is a message board and I give my opinion on hockey as I see it.
You're fully making shit up, I literally have Martone ranked 4th.

Oh sorry, it was Schaefer that you have first. Shoe still fits. You’ve been stating that you don’t want your team to pick Hagens because you feel he’s too similar to players your team has and you are going to try to proclaim that a draft rankings should be tied to what your team needs. Completely crooked logic.

I think Schaefer is the best player in the draft regardless of team needs. You're just making an assumption because the idea that anyone doesn't think Hagens is the best player in the draft makes your brain overheat.

Does the phrase "they are hot take artists" mean anything else than what it describes?

You are twisting yourself into a knot here.

Or I’m reading your statements where you discuss what your team needs and what you hope for and then tie that to the relative ranking of players.

You are the one that is trying to claim I mean something I didn’t say. I have no twisting to do. What I said is clear by the plain language. The twisting is trying to claim someone doesn’t mean the plain language, but instead something else.

Again, you're just making stuff up. I can say "I hope for pick X because I want player Y" without it being my ranking. Hope that helps!

What does this mean? The words are yours, the assigned meaning is clear (can it mean anything else?), and you doubled down on what you meant in subsequent posts. There is nothing opaque about what you were communicating.

Things would be so much easier with you if you just admitted fault with anything, ever. If you didn't mean what you said, then say that, don't assign blame to the reader reading your words.

This shit is tiresome and ridiculous, especially since you have value as a poster on here. Wish you would give up this act.

Personally I like hearing interesting observations about prospects, that's the best part. People spend too much time obsessing about lists. Everyone can make a list, but not everyone can write or talk engagingly about players.
Clearly, you are nothing more than a big fan of hot take artistry 🫢.

You are creating a fictional tale that doesn’t exist. I am not thinking about this as deep as you seem to be crafting for me.

Do they believe what they say? Probably.

Even as a complete nobody hockey fan that doesn’t proclaim any special knowledge, I’ve learned that when it comes to trying to get NHL draft rankings right sometimes it’s best to not throw every wild hunch you have at the wall. Easier though to do so when your job doesn’t depend on being right (as it does for NHL teams), and also easy when you have people trying to silence dissent because they agree with the hot-take-y nature.
If you consistently stray from the consensus and are wrong, at some point people will stop consuming your content. So no, it’s not like they have nothing to lose, they very much do.

At that point this thing that seems to bother you would work itself out.

Having the consensus 1 at 3? Having a consensus top 4 at 5? Having a guy at 6 that hasn’t even been making top 15’s yet?

Of course it is.
Honestly, the only hot take I think would be Frondell over Martone. But, I think the early lists a lot of scouting services put out were really bad.

I think Carter Bear at 6 is a great call. I have him ranked at 6 as well and he’s a great player. I think Hagens, Misa, Schaefer, and Martone are really close. I can see putting them in almost any order depending on preference.

Outside maybe top 6-8 this looks like a really weak draft . Amico and rombach have same statically profile of Cleveland from ntdp and now arizona state and he went in third round and right now a bust . Probably weakest draft from usa - finland players ive seen in awhile . really weak draft .

Who is this Simon Wang fella? Born in Beijing, Defenseman listed at 6'6, committed to Boston U playing true Junior A Hockey in the OJHL.. you would not typically see a player in that League be discussed as a first round pick. I am also not familiar with the player until now. Looks like he came out of the GTHL so he would have at least been on the radar for junior hockey as a youngster. Has he taken huge strides recently? How much substance is there to the rank compared to getting intrigued over size?
