Review: Tron Elite Senior One Piece Composite Stick - Senior, 95 Flex, RH Malki (Sakic) curve
http://www.hockeytron.com/tr158.html

New member to this forum and I wanted to say, "thank you" to the others who have posted unbiased reviews on the house brand stuff found at www.hockeytron.com. I play several rec hockey leagues around the Atlanta area and, because of my size, I tend to go through sticks rather quickly. I used Easton stuff for the longest time but as their quality started to deteriorate I saw myself drifting to Warrior sticks or older two piece Easton sticks (tapered Synthesis/Synergy II) but I'm just not as happy with the feel and performance. I've even gone as far as to repair the blade on my broken Easton Stealth CNT (greatest stick ever built).

Service: First, I need to talk about the service @ Hockey Tron. I ordered over $100 total which means free shipping. HT shipped my order the same day via USPS Priority. What this means is that a package that would normally take 5-7 days from California via UPS only took three days to arrive at my home in Atlanta, Georgia -- a huge benefit of ordering from them. My order was all correct - no erroneous curves or items shipped. I was very pleasantly happy. Service receives a 10/10.

Onto the actual review. I received the stick yesterday and, as advertised, it's VERY light (advertised 418 grams - I can't attest to the exact weight as I don't have a letter scale or anything but it's far lighter than my two warrior sticks that are supposed to weigh 425 and 435, and only slightly heavier than my old Easton Stealth CNT and it's listed at 410g) - I haven't cut it down yet so it's still at full length - about 2" longer than I normally like.

Feel: 10/10 - this stick has a very good contour - similar to the two Warrior sticks I currently use weekly. The corners of the shaft are rounded, not perfectly square (like my Stealth CNT is) and the sides of the shaft seem to have a slightly convex contour. It's got a dull, matte, finish which could help with grip. It's very well balanced - the blade doesn't feel substantially heavier or 'bulky' compared to the rest of the stick when you stick handle with it. The stick, overall, has a very good feel and you can feel the puck easily on the blade.

Construction: 10/10* - this doesn't appear to be a 'true one piece stick' - and I don't believe any of them are. You can see an area where the shaft was fused to the blade but it does have a pretty decent taper which could help with quicker release. The blade is VERY stiff and thin, and its construction reminds me of the Warrior sticks. The curve is very close to a Sakic/Draper curve - I'm pretty pleased. The site says it has a 18k kevlar weave covering - I don't see any reason to believe it's not. Construction receives 10/10 - but this could change as I use it. Easton blades are notorious for pulling apart and getting a 'soggy' (or soft) feeling... only time will tell if this does the same.

Look: 7/10 - This is a good looking stick if you can get passed the somewhat gaudy 'TRON' labels and decals. It's got a matte finish on the classic carbon/kevlar checkered pattern under silver TRON labels and green 'Elite' logos. I've already made the decision that I'll shave the labels and logos off if I decide to pursue ordering more of these. Look receives 7/10 because of the pretty awful decals and logos.

Performance: 9/10 - I just got back from the rink and I'm pleasantly surprised. The stick has an excellent feel and is light when stick handling. I normally cut sticks down about 2 inches but I left this one the standard length and it seemed fine. Wrist shots were solid, slap shots and one timers were excellent and snapshots were solid. The things that saw the most improvement were my back hand sauce, one-time touch passes and regular sauce. The stick is silky smooth and performs very well. The only complaint I had was about an hour into the session I noticed something had come loose inside the stick and was making noise - probably just some glue or maybe some graphite. The blade held stiff throughout the two hour session and I'm very impressed. Never have I seen this type of performance from a 'house brand' stick.

Thanks for taking the time to read this review. I hope it helps.

Eric

I also got one of these, don't have much to add.

They forgot to ship mine out so it took like 3 weeks to get it. I like the stick though, only played with it for 3 games but still seems really solid. I've only really tested out my wrist shots so far, combination of playing wing and not having a great slapshot anyways. Will have to test it out at a stick and puck, but the blade is stiff and if its anything like the LE it'll be good.

I had the LE model before this. Took a nasty slash which chipped away from of the stick then later it snapped when I went for a slapshot.

Very nice. I looked for reviews before buying it but couldn't find any - that's why I thought I'd write one. I'll definitely be buying more of these, especially since they're only $80 with that 20% off coupon. Definitely a good deal.

I've been very happy with TRON through all my dealings with them but never sprung for the stick. Sticking to woods right now, but thanks I this thread when I do decide to go for the composite I'll be going with TRON. Price is too good and the service is amazing.

So I take it you work for them..

I certainly don't. Just a good product at a great price. They took 3 weeks to ship out my stick and I had to email them to remind them to send out my stuff and then they only sent out my stick, not the jersey and socks I had ordered.

Was this directed at me?

If so, I definitely don't work for them - I live in Atlanta, GA and work for an IT company in Tampa, FL. The only reason I wrote a review was to help people like me - I was very skeptical when I bought the elite stick because I'd never heard of Tron before. I looked high and low for a review for that stick and, after not being able to find one, I decided to give it a try and write a review.

I definitely do NOT work for Tron.

In regards to an update on my purchase:

I've got about 10 playing hours on the stick ( 4 games, a few practices and some pickup games) and it's still holding strong. I took a shot off the shaft in my last game and there is a nick on the shaft - can't tell if it's a crack or just a surface nick. Still seems to hold strong so that's good. The blade is still as stiff as when I bought it but it's making a little crinkling noise when I try to bend it. It's still stiff so I'm not too worried. I plan on using as absolutely much as possible within the first 30 days so if it breaks I can get another one. So far, I'm very happy with my purchase.

On another note - a good buddy of mine bought a Tron LE stick one day after I bought mine (he bought his on November 8) and it JUST ARRIVED TODAY... that's 13 shipping days and USPS's fault - not necessarily Tron's fault. One thing I would recommend is make sure they either ship it via USPS Priority or pay extra for the UPS shipping or else you could be waiting three weeks to receive the order... My buddy was not amused whatsoever.

Well update on my Tron elite stick.

Got a crack about an inch long in the middle of my blade. It's a slight bit less stiff IMO. I can still slapshot no problem. Although I sent an email to their warranty service. They haven't even replied and its been a week.

So their customer service really sucks. I'm kinda bummed about the blade, but it's help up alright so far. I guess I'll see how long it lasts.

The website compares it to the TotalONE and the S19 (albeit only in weight). You seem to be pretty high on it. In your opinion is this a comparable stick to other brands top models? I just broke my one95 and am looking to replace it but I don't want to go spending ~200 on a stick. I was going to try to find an old model on clearance but that's not always easy to do.
Do you think this is a suitable replacement for a one95?

I'd say its comparable but I have no idea about durability. I'm actually pretty concerned I'm gonna snap the blade off pretty soon. Hopefully not though.

It's definitely one of the lighter sticks I've held. The blade is nice and stiff.

That being said I wouldn't buy from them again. It was a good deal and a decent stick, but their customer service is just annoying. Blatantly took a review I wrote on here and put it on their website while censoring my criticisms and used a fake name. Sent them an email wondering what the hell that was about. Then they didn't ship my stick out for almost 2 weeks. Now they won't reply to my warranty question. I'm done. I don't care how cheap they are.

First thing I thought when I read the OP review...yeah this dude works for them. Viral marketing ftl.

There is a hockey tron distributor in my city here and I'm contemplating looking at his shin/elbow pads, being that they're as well priced as they are...

Most compaines manufacturers, outside of "few", out to china like this "hockey tron" and for things like visors, and protective (i.e. shin/elbow/shoulder) I'd be willing to try it out, as its probably no different than mid-level bauer/rbk.

However for "helmet, skates, and sticks" --- I'm not sure I'd be willing to trust on those items that truely are subject to design and performance.

Gloves? well they have a pair of MSH2 palmed eagle replica's for $79... not like Eagle isn't sending their stuff out East neither.
but I do not like this big "TRON" logo neither

couldn't they come up with a better name lol?
Rebellion, Combat, Flite, Torspo sound better than that

Haha, he's definitely lying. Posting to a few people reviewing your under average products aren't gonna make your sales go up. Bauer FTW.

I love hockey players - they're so funny. I seriously don't work for them and my only experience with this company has been the one stick I bought and what I heard from my buddy about their extremely slow shipping. Have I been promoting their stuff at the rinks where I skate, hell yes. Would I like to get paid for it? Hell yes. Do I, unfortunately not.

Here - I just went to their website and they don't even have any resellers in Georgia...

Like I said several times, I'm just trying to write an unbiased review for some inexpensive equipment for an expensive sport. That's all - nothing more to it.

That sucks man. Mine is holding up so far. Just had another game last night and it's still solid. I haven't head to deal with their customer service yet but hopefully it gets better. zi'm

That's crazy. I did notice that they stuck a bunch of five star reviews up on their site and that kind of pissed me off. Be honest - if people had negative things to say, show it. Their stuff is decent to good so, hopefully, the good will outweigh the bad.

Ya I mean the product isn't terrible or anything but its kinda sketchy to be faking reviews.

Interesting quote considering this stick is the same stick as a Bauer Total Supreme One. They're made in the same place. :p:

lol, agreed.

My buddy just bought me Tron's 405 for Christmas.. wow.. that's a really nice stick - and it's only $104 after their 20% off coupon.

To everyone who says I work for Tron or whatever... please.. keep buying your overpriced stuff and I'll buy the same stuff at a two to one ratio. Fine by me.. I'm all about saving money. Plus, because Tron seems to have limited quantities available of just about all their sticks, that will make it easier for me because you're out there buying your Bauers or Eastons. I was a HUGE fan of Easton sticks until a few years ago when they switched manufacturing from Canada to Mexico.

The palms aren't MSH2. More like the Nash materiel on the Bauer 4-Rolls

They're actually made on the same factory line. Try one. Seriously..

Doesn't mean they're the same stick...

It also doesn't matter if he tries it or not; even if they do feel the same, that doesn't prove anything at all.

It's still $90
Maybe it's just me, but if I can get let's say high-end Bauer/Easton sticks on ebay for like $100 - 150, I would still prefer those over Tron.

I've never tried Tron, but I've tried a custom hockey stick made in China (not mine). 100% composite, 420 grams, it felt alright at first but easily loses its stiffness after a few weeks. And another downside is the blade has way different feel compared to top name brands'.

That's fine. This thread got derailed from the start. The purpose was to let hockey players know there's an alternative to spending $200+ on hockey sticks. A few years ago I'd go through three or four a year and it adds up quickly. Tron offers a great value. I now use their '405' stick and it's the best stick I've owned and I've played hockey at many levels over my life. I was an Easton guy until they started making the sticks in Mexico and I saw the craftsmanship go down considerably, then I tried Warrior and EVERY SINGLE ONE I had broke in the exact same place - bout 4" above the hosel.

So, again, the purpose of this thread was to let people know there is an alternative out there. If you're stuck on what you use then don't switch - I don't really care. I was just trying to get the word out that there is another option.

To piggyback on what I said about the 405, briefly: If you want to try something that's pretty great, give this stick a shot. Their first iteration of the 405 was great but lacked durability. Their new version (the one they currently sell) is 10x better. It's very close to 405 grams and here's my experience with it: I've played in 12 games with it, several practices, and about 40 hours of pickup hockey and it only shows the normal wear and tear any stick would (chips, scratches and nicks here and there). After probably close to 80 hours of play it's still as stiff as the day I bought it (I bought three so I do have something to compare to), the blade has not become one bit flexible - it's still as stiff as the day I bought it - and, needless to say, I couldn't be more impressed. Even Easton sticks would begin to fall apart after a few games - you can feel the interior of the blade begin to crumble and you get that soft, mushy feeling when you catch a pass or go to shoot. The Tron 405 has held up amazingly well and I've been 100% pleasantly surprised.

That's absolutely fine and fair combsatl, but unless you have proof, son't go throwing around ridiculous claims like that.
