Value of: Brock Nelson

As a Rangers fan and hockey fan. Islanders better trade him and not let him go like with Tavares. I see Avs, Bolts, being options at the deadline

Why not extend him today with a nice team friendly 3 year deal and then trade him …. Silly right
I believe even with the cap going up there isnt enough room for Nelson at lets say 6.5 m due to the required in house RFA's needing deals (dobber , romanov , holmstrom , tsyp )

Nelsons gotta go to UFA hes gunna get wayy more then he should. Stephenson style.

He deserves whatever he can get and if it’s way more than he should that’s a “ says you “.
His family is part of hockey royalty and he has been an all time great Islander. He never hardly ever misses a game and is never a distraction off the ice . This guy ages like fine wine getting better as he gets older. I know you will just look at point totals but he has always had hot cold streaks like probably most nhl players . At seasons end he will have his 25+ goals and 25+ assists ..LGI

Im saying he should go to UFA because he will get overpaid. Im not sure why this is taken as a slight on Nelson. I think Chicago would be one of the teams to do it. Id be happy about it.

More than likely he takes a discount to play for the Wild and try and bring Minnesota their first cup. His uncle was on the Miracle On Ice team and his grandfather won gold in 1960 as well. He can add to his family's legacy by bringing a cup home. This, combined with the fact that the Wild have no cap space means that probably he does not go there in season. Dallas, Washington, Colorado are where I think he's most likely to land.

FYI Islanders have had their top two RHD go down long term this week, as well as their double backup goalie (backup was already injured). Even with the winning streak, I think it just became much more likely they actually sell Nelson.

We have a kind of beat reporter-ish guy whose sources are saying that teams want to see him perform at the 4 Nations tourney before he's dealt to make sure he's healthy and whatnot. He's got 10 points in his last 8 NHL games, you'd think that would be enough but whatever
