My go-to is Hockey Giant (weekly specials and clearance deals are FTW), but I've used Hockey Monkey before, and I was happy with their service.

Back to topic, I think I'm hooked on HM...pretty much all of my gear has come from them, and I was impressed by how quickly they got everything out to me. Hockey Giant and Ice Warehouse would be next in line for online shopping, but I've gotten a couple essentials(namely skates and sticks) from my local shop (Hockey Haven in Brookfield, Wisconsin) as well. As an absolute beginner in every sense of the word, the people that are the most helpful will get my business, and so far that distinction goes to HM.

TBLFan, I cannot stand these guys. I asked if they carried a size XXL in some pants, and the response I got was "why are ya playing ice ya fattie." I like my pants a little looser and wear a 38 inch waist so XXL is the size I get (especially with more slimmer cut brands like Mission, RBK< and NikeBauer) So I say screw those guys,plus I heard the actual retail store is kind of lame
