Not sure where to post this, but more international posters here so why not here, it'll get more views.

The best thing you'll see all week.

The game's growth Worldwide is astonishing to look at, we're seeing Hockey develop in Kenya, India, China, Japan, Korea, Argentina, South Africa, New Zealand, Mexico, etc, videos such as these ones really remind us why we all love this game so much.

This video makes me more upset with Sideshow Gary Bettman's world cup. Give the world a chance to qualify and great things will happen.

The disconnect between Bettman and this video is about as big a gulf as that between India and Thailand.

I think he was meaning that Bettman is ignoring many potential markets. Look at the NFL they have been try to force their way into Europe, while NBA has been focused on Asia.

Agreed. Pyeongchang 2018 would be a great marketing opportunity for hockey in Asia, but instead of embracing it, the NHL is just trying to make the players skip the tournament altogether.

Pretty short-sighted if you ask me. South Korea is a big country with ice skating culture, and doesn't really have a clear-cut number one sport. And China and Japan have massive potential as well.

And the NHL has pushed hard into Europe.

A great vid. Seeing hockey played in winter conditions in India gives me shivers... Truly splendid.

Yes, but maybe not as good the NFL and NBA is doing, and trust me I think both of these associations are bush leagues. NHL is with MLB in the bottom in terms of marketing to the potential areas. NFL and I believe NBA both have TV deals in some of Europe's major countries. NHL has some as well, but on remote channels and if it's not on a major one, it's probably only broadcasting a game once a week (which isn't close enough of maximizing the potential fanbase for hockey).

As for the video, absolutely love it, it's nice to see the game grow because that's the point of it. But I don't know how much influence it will be had for the rest of the country. I believe this tournament is shot in regions of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh where it's normally poor and has the least amount of population in all of India. I admit it is nice that a major cities of New Delhi and Ludhiana are close to these regions, but it needs to have more influence in some of the southern, more hotter climates to have a good chance. Not talking about cities like Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, or Ahmedabad, but cities like Hyderabad, Lucknow, Rajasthan, and Kanpur can help with more growth and exposure.

I think I still prefer Hockey in Kenya video though.

For Hockey to grow in India it will take 100 years (India's economy is only now starting to grow at a very fast pace. But it can grow in the Northern Areas due to snow and ice accumulation.

Basketball is already huge in China and becoming HUGE in India (first Indian player in the NBA last season and another Drafted).

Hockey has a loonnnngg way to go anywhere in India/South Asia + China and it has fallen behind Basketball and now Soccer, Baseball by a lot.

Hockey is a hard sport to grow. It's extremely expensive and weather dependent.

This is great to see, I always enjoy seeing hockey in these new countries. Mexico's winning tournaments now as well (Albeit lesser tier junior tourneys)

Not arguing that, but it has the excitement factor which other sports don't have and I don't think NHL is doing a good enough job to showcase this fundamental factor to the world.

NHL should be playing their preseason games around the world to market the sport and the NHL product. Many European soccer teams have been coming here during the summers for preseason games as a marketing trip.

The nhl is a league that holds a exhibition cash grab cup in Toronto and calls it a world cup with teams that aren't national teams. It's boss can't tell you on a map where kazakhstan is, do you expect any global development from such a sad organization?

I don't see hockey getting big in India. They love their Cricket.

And? every country has it's dominant sports, it doesn't mean you can't go for 2nd spot. China loves ping pong, Europe loves football(soccer) basketball seems to be doing well in both those places. There's nothing holding hockey back, minus expense. Even then, get kids interested in ball hockey at the grass roots levels so they're at least playing it. Everyone can afford a wood stick and tennis ball.

Field hockey is quite big in India so the fundamentals (at a very basic level) are there.

As an Indian, I'm absolutely amazed by this video. Granted, my family is not from the north and mountainous regions, but never in a million years did I think I'd see ice hockey in India.
