If your angle is to say he's embellishing, you're fighting an obvious losing battle. If you're condemning the goddamned incessant crosschecks the NHL keeps letting players get away with like the one Hintz give literally seconds before the retaliatory slash, then I'm with you.

Came to this thread to say got my foot fractured exactly like this, albeit with an old school sherwood. Didn't keep me out for long, but still bugs me to this day in cold weather (f*** I'm old), and can still swell up once in a while too.

I guess it COULD be embellishment but not likely, and anyone suggesting that doesn't at the very least sting has never been hit with anything between the toe cap and shinguard.

It should have been a major but I can understand a 2 in real time since I don't think I've really ever seen that live (and especially since Hintz has a bit of a rep for this, honestly), but I would wish Nurse would at least get at least a fine for being a repeat shitbag.

Based on a severity of contact, on a no windup slash aimed at the shin pads, that’s never getting a 5.

Depends on how you want to interpret the rule, I suppose. They should clean it up to clarify.

Is it:

A) Based on the severity of contact AND injury occurs?

Or just...

B) Injury occurs?

The USA Hockey rulebook makes it pretty clear that B is the case from what I remember of it. I can see interpreting as either A or B based on the wording of the NHL rules.

I'm positive it hurt like hell. I initially mocked it. Assumed he'd play another shift. He is a pretty tough player and didn't return.

I'll now reserve judgement till I see practice lines and game lineup tomorrow. I'll feel like an asshole if his series is done.

A flight cannot help that at all. But I do assume, if he is hurt, that he's going to a medical facility of some sort today. I'd assume he's already at one.
