Hintz Embellishment?

Something very weird is going on. I've never seen anyone having to walk out in a boot after a slash. Hintz has played 100s of hockey games in his life and he goes down to that. That makes no sense.

I think the most likely outcome and logical answer is that he faked it. Him leaving in the boot increases the chance of Nurse getting suspended for a few games. They weren't winning that game anyways. Although not like Nurse is any good anyways lol.

There will be no suspension, it was a nothing slash, something that happens many times a game. Just like the cross check to the back just before the slash, happens all the time.

Why would Hintz think the game was over? The Stars scored 5 goals in the 3rd period of Game 1.

Yeah, a two hand-slash across the bridge of your foot is going to effing hurt. Might even break the foot.

If your angle is to say he's embellishing, you're fighting an obvious losing battle. If you're condemning the goddamned incessant crosschecks the NHL keeps letting players get away with like the one Hintz give literally seconds before the retaliatory slash, then I'm with you.

Pretty amazing to twist yourself into a nonsense pretzel and declare this tripe to be logical.

I thought it was embellishment at the time but it seems now like maybe a reaggravated injury. Some people were saying he had a foot injury before, although I doubt it would have been where Darnell hit him

Completely ordinary looking plays cause injuries all the time. It's easy to disregard it by just looking at the force of the slash and body part that was impacted but important details are lost.

The point of impact on both stick and foot? Could the force transfer into motion or was it completely absorbed by the point of impact and so on?

Sure, players dive all the time but he missed the 3rd period so I'd guess that wasn't the case here.

Players block 90 mph slap shots with their feet and can keep playing or at a minimum stand up and skate to the bench.

If Hintz plays tomorrow then it tells you he's got the Mike Ribeiro in him.
I don’t think Roope Hintz has the same stuff in him that Mike Ribeiro had for quite a bit of his career. He’s way too clean of a guy for that. That’s more coming under Evander Kane’s alley…

Accordnig to the rule it IS a 5. If a player is injured it is supposed to be 5. Of course that means the officials have to determine if there was a dive.
That’s not what the rule says.

If there was a 5 for everytime a slash injured or hurt someone, there would be one of those called a game

61.3 - A major penalty, at the discretion of the referee based on the severity of the contact, shall be imposed on a player who slashes an opponent. When injury occurs, a major penalty must be assessed under this rule (see 61.5).

Based on a severity of contact, on a no windup slash aimed at the shin pads, that’s never getting a 5.
