I'm sure he will be back next game flying around, if not how TF do you get hurt that bad on a routine play like this?

Maybe a slight embellishment, but getting slashed on the laces can hurt like a motherf***er.
That's what it looks like to me, getting hit on the laces. While the tongue of a skate has a little padding, that's largely for the comfort of one's foot, rather than protective in any way.
It can hurt like heck to take even a light tap there if you get hit in the wrong spot.
It was on Nurse's backhand too, and this is right after Hintz two hand cross checked him in the back of neck, which is a far more dangerous play and warrants a game in my opinion.
Mikey Madison should be glad Hintz didn’t pull this stunt last year or she would have lost out on the Best Actress Oscar for sure.

I have a reasonably high tolerance for pain, but I've suffered a metatarsal injury before and the pain was excruciating on a level I can hardly describe. Actual 10/10 on the pain scale. Couldn't even think.

There was 16 minutes left in the game, if he was doing a Ribeiro, he would have been laughing on the bench after this and then hopping on the ice on the next shift.
