Yes in hindsight there was a 3 way deal that could have been very interesting between Ana, Wpg and Edm.

Ana needed a world class winger, Wpg. needs a LHD and Edm. wanted a RHD. There might have been some adds one way or the other but that would have been a blockbuster.

It seems to me that a 3 way deal was possible. I think Trouba was better than Larson. Ana has many highly rated D. Wpg. has big problems getting good vaue for a player that just doesn't want to play in Wpg.

Might have been interesting.

I think trouba holds less value than the other 2 mentioned and would need so kind of add but I agree with your premise entirely.

I'd imagine edmonton would rather just do a hall for lindholm deal if that was possible.

Jets need to add Connor if they expect to get lindholm for trouba

Kyle Connor is an absolute elite prospect. He's not being added to that deal. Maybe Nic Petan if they add a significant piece but not Connor.

Larsson is better, cheaper and has a better attitude than Trouba. He also wants to play in Canada. Trouba apparently doesn't.

Why would Trouba want to sign in Edmonton when he's hell bent on getting out of Winnipeg?

lindholm is much, much better than trouba. petan doesnt come close to bridging that gap

Agreed. But all three teams would have benefited but as of right now Larsson is better than Trouba.

The thing I don't get about the premise for this 'what if' is why Edmonton and Anaheim need Winnipeg involved at all. The Oilers would have taken Lindholm if they could have traded Hall for him. They weren't going to turn that down based on his handedness.

Apparently he just wants to play on the right side, but that might just be a convenient excuse.

Ehhh, I don't know. Winnipeg has an elite RHD and another RHD that they dumped a ton of value into. If I'm Trouba, and I'm destined to be the 3rd RHD in terms of beneficial minutes (PPTOI in particular) and am pulling a lot of tough minutes on the right-hand side, why am I there? I fit the bill of the most coveted player on the market...and yet I'm going to settle for a position that puts me 3rd in line in my organization? Why? I just saw Adam Larsson get traded for Taylor ****ing Hall and yet I'm going to accept a salary that sells me to the fans and league as anything other than a core piece? **** no. I'm a commodity.

ducks never agree there has been no indication from lindholm that he wants out

Larsson is better than Trouba, but Lindholm is better then both.

Im sure Edmonton would've happily traded Hall for Lindholm. Hall for Trouba would've been bad for Edmonton.

It seems that way to me too. Handedness isn't that important. You take the best defensman you can get for Hall, and if Lindholm and Trouba are your options, it's not even a conversation regarding who you'd rather take.

I take Larsson over Trouba 11 times out of 10. As for Lindholm, I will be watching him very closely this year. I watch every single oilers game and when they play the ducks, no dman stands out to me. Batsmen did because he undressed our d on an overtime goal, but that's pretty much it. Anaheim has tremendous depth so maybe that's why.
I always see people saying how incredible Love Lindholm is but the 5-6 times I see him a year, nothing really stands out.
So as per the trade, I'm happy with Larsson (kind of upset that the flames got Hamilton for only picks, and it cost us Hall for Larsson, but I guess they are pretty different players), and I'm not sold on Lindholm, although I'm sure I'll notice him more because I'll be looking for him

Yea this

Lindholm > Larsson > Trouba

I think the Oil would still rather do the Hall-Larsson vs. Hall-Lindholm even though Lindholm is better tbh for a few reasons.
1) In division. Hall is the last guy you want to play 6 times a year, especially when we start to make the playoffs.
2) Larsson is cheaper. 2 million less could mean a lot in a few seasons.
3) Larsson is a RHD, which Chia was adamant about. And for good reason.
