Love Newhook and think he's the most likely to reach his potential, the highest potential though is Dach. Even just bubble playoffs Dach was a nightmare.

Dach is getting some Montreal hopium votes. His wrist is dust, unfortunately. Probably would've forsure had the best career out of them all if not.

Going on year 3 now, if it isn't healed properly by now it's not ever going to be.

I'm still shocked the kings pulled Turcotte from the badgers

Nobody in NCAA circles thought he had developed enough.
Wisconsin was a tire fire that year, and no one could have seen the pandemic having the impact it had on pro hockey (he signed like a week or two before everything shutdown).

In hindsight, it was obviously the wrong move, but it wasn’t completely out of left field at the time.

Dach has been mishandled since he was drafted but easily has the most "potential" out of these options. Hell, he got drafted ahead of guys like Byram, Seider, Zegras etc., for a reason.

Not sure about his wrist but he's definitely lacking confidence in his game. Not sure Montreal's market is the best for that either.

He has only played 1 season after his wrist injury. It hasn't been 3 years.

I said going on 3 years, as in this will be year 3, an important year at that. It’s been 2 years and he’s been really disappointing given his draft position. Chicago knows this which is the only reason a player like that is traded so early on in their career.

Caufield was also on that team, but he was left to develop for another year which was the best decision that could have been made. You have to wonder how much this affected Turcotte's development as he wasn't even a point a game player and was nowhere close to dominating the NCAA, but yes in hindsight, it was a horrible move by the Kings.

Oh I agree completely in hindsight, I was just trying to provide context that it wasn't a decision just made out of nowhere. There were rumblings that the Kings brass was very concerned with how that season was handled by Wisconsin's coaching staff. We now all wish he'd been left another year, but what's done is done.

Dach will be a fine NHLer. Ceiling is not there but that may be good enough to win this who knows.

I voted Dach because of this poster. Wait didn't everyone vote Dach because of this poster.

Watching Krebs, Newhook and Harley all coming off the board before the Senators pick was such a nightmare for me.

I was hoping Newhook would be our selection and I still think when it’s all said and done him and Krebs will have the most successful career.

I'm still not convinced half of these guys are even NHL Centers. Turcotte and Newhook especially.

That said, i think one of Krebs or Newhook still end up the best of this group. Even if it's as a winger. Newhook probably the most productive, but Krebs contributes more all-around. That's my projection.

Dach surprised me initially in the NHL. Thought maybe i'd underestimated him. But whether it's injury or something else, he's really stagnated, or even regressed. That's usually not a good sign. Could he be a Bogosian type who showed up "first" out of that great 2008 defencemen draft class because he was more physically ready, but with injuries and development, never really progressed much beyond that?

Turcotte's development doesn't seem like it's been handled all that well. But he's not a guy i was high on to begin with. Playing with Zegras probably made it more stark, but the different level of dynamic ability between the two of them seem so pronounced to me. Turcotte has always just seemed so ho-hum to me. Complementary skillset, and not a particularly dynamic set of tools to go with it.

I think all Habs fans are hoping he reaches his ceiling but don't fool yourself, we see the concerns you brought up. We are not oblivious to it.

His draft year and D+1 was very very good and he was rated very high by most fans. Wrist injury derailed things yeah but he came back that season and had 10 pts with 2 goals in 18 games. Then there is that disaster season by the Blackhawks and it appears you ignoring that part which does have effects on players and especially young players developing.

Dach still has potential. He's basically on the Lafreniere track and there are so many guys not busting out as early as we project them. There has been a clear trend over the last few years.

I'm pretty sure the Habs would have done their due diligence on Dach's surgery and how that affected him last season.

Have to go with the homer pick hoping that wrist injury is behind him and he breaks out in Montreal

He definitely has the higher potentiel
I'd argue Krebs has the higher potential. If they were both the same size, and Krebs hadn't had the achilles injury pre-draft, I think Krebs would have been the higher pick. A lot of ifs, sure, but i'm still a firm believer Krebs has the higher end skill set. At this point he tends to try to do too much out there, but once he dials it back, he's going to be a VERY effective 2-way player. His vison and passing are off the charts.
