This thread is purely for speculating the cap hits for each high-end UFA forward, not which team they sign.

IMHO:

Rantanen: 13 million for 8 years or 14.5mill for 7 years.
Marner: 12.5mill for 8 years or 13.5mill for 7.
Tavares: 9mill for 3 years.
Ehlers: 8.25mill for 8 or 9mill for 7.
Boeser: 7.5mill for 8 or 8.25 mill for 7.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see 19-year-old Sam Bennett end up being comfortably among the Top-5 UFA contracts handed out this summer, if he doesn't take a bit of a discount to stay with the Panthers.

I predict Tavares will take a bit of a discount to stay in Toronto. Doubt he wants to uproot his family at this stage of his career. Maybe something like $6M for 2 years.

This of course depends on the teams they sign with too, several teams had huge cap space even before the Cap increase news.

I think these are a bit low given the new cap numbers.

Not only do we know the cap is going up significantly next year, we know it's going up significantly the next three years.

Dunno that we've ever really had a three year cap outlook with significant raises in the history of the cap. Agents will capitalize on that.

There's not a ton of quality on this year's UFA market... so the few top players who want to chase top $$$ can probably get more money than the OP predictions. If they want to. Teams will have that money to spend with the big Cap rises on the horizon. Not all players will necessarily chase top dollar, of course, maybe some will take hometown/competitive discounts. But I think guys like Marner and Rantanen could easily become the two highest paid players in the league, if they so choose. $14M seems reasonable to me.

Back in the early days of the cap when it was expected to go up a lot in coming years, the Bruins gave Chara 15 million as a % of the cap.
