I know Miz was in that 4-way that was really good, but his greatness on the year still only basically encompasses his feud with Ziggler. But he's been in good matches pretty consistently since Wrestlemania, save for those dead spots he had to get Darren Young and Apollo Crews.

But it's said here, KO has had better matches, Jericho has had a great character even if some of his matches weren't up to par. In some order, they have to be 2 and 3.

Agreed. I Miz has had like one or two good months.

KO has had a great year and Jericho's character work is the best in the company right now.

Awesome to see AJ getting the WWE Universe praise.

Interesting list going back, Punk, DB, Rollins now AJ. Indy darlings galore.

Miz is above Sami for sure for 2016.

The top talents of the year imo are Styles (in his own tier), and then Owens, Miz and Jericho in the next.

Though....thinking about it...I can't really remember a single GREAT Jericho match.

I can remember one of the worst matches of the year but I'm genuinely struggling to find his stand out ring stuff.

He's literally had none. People just throw him into the conversation because of his mic work. Thinking about it, Jericho probably isn't in the tier with Owens and Miz. I'd probably put Ambrose in that tier because of how consistent he's been and his great matches with Styles, Cena and Owens throughout the year mixed in with his mic work and versatility from seriousness to humour.

Styles
-
Owens/Miz/Ambrose
-
Rollins/Jericho

in terms of superstar of the year.

Sami is above Miz. It isn't his fault the company won't give him time despite wrestling so many high quality matches including the best match during Mania weekend and the definite MOTY.

Miz was mid card time waster for 9 months of the year.

Sami was mid card time waster for 12 months though

Sami's mic and character work doesn't come close to Miz's this year. Miz has been the total package this year, from masterful mic and character work to great matches. I don't know what you watched for 9 months, but when he returned from filming his movie he was the IC champ consistently working with Cesaro, Zayn and Owens until the brand split where he then took off as arguably the best thing on Smackdown and cemented himself as a main event star again.

Zayn has had great matches - then literally disappeared for like two months. That's it.

and AJ was jobbing to the new age brooklyn brawler for a month. What tier you're in doesn't make everything.

Cesaro is stuck in the tag division where he clearly has the world champ material in him.

Right but the guy I quoted is basing it on tiers.

There's literally no argument I can see for Zayn over Miz. Hell I'd even argue that Miz's top match this year was better than Zayn's.

"But that's not Sami's fault! He was used wrong!"

Sure.....but it doesn't mean that he's better just because he has potential. Miz outperformed him in 2016. You can argue as to why that was, but beyond being a Zayn mark, I'm not sure how anyone says he had a better year.

I'm not going to argue that Zayn has been better than Miz this year because he hasn't.

Having said that Miz literally never out wrestled Zayn this year.

I think Ziggler/Miz was better than Zayn/Owens which is really the only match of note I can remember him having this year (Not that Miz had anything else in ring to speak of)

You can also argue that Miz was being used wrong, but took the slightest opening he had to take the ball and run with it and he did. His performances have proven how underutilized he's been for the past couple of years.
