OT: HFPens Community Lounge: Everyone was forced outside to touch real grass during the HF crash of 2025 edition

I need a new office chair / gaming chair, whatever... but I use it for several things so a good one is importunate.... as the price is just ridiculous. 500 - 1000 dollars for a CHAIR!?
I was looking secret something... labs i think... they have a good product? Or does anyone know of a basic 100 dollar plain ordinary regular chair that doesn't cost worth a used vehicle?
Its stupid. I asked for a couple new chairs for work. These basic high back mesh ones are popular. Cost is $4000 per chair. Thing should massage, heat, cool and cook for that price.

I am all out of shows to watch right now or I guess, “binge” is the right word here.

Mobland is good, but holy hell do you despise almost everyone on that show. Brosnan is great as a creepy mob boss that is also ruthless but Helen Mirren is just so annoying in this, you keep hoping her character gets killed, then there’s her absolute tit of a grandson Eddie. Considine, Brosnan, Hardy, and Geoff Bell is always fantastic.

Better than the end to You, what a f***ing nightmare that show became after Season 3. Just like Sullivan, this is what happens when you don’t know when you move on and end things. That show should have ended on Season 3. Season 4 and 5 were absolute garbage. I regret watching those 2 seasons. Also…
Having to use the trope of castration to kill of a toxic male character is just boring. The fact that Kate who wanted her uncle dead, covered up a bunch of shit, caused deaths with her pipeline deal, etc gets to live happily ever after is just pure shit writing. I mean cool, yes kill the patriarchy bs which I get this show had a massive hard on for, but holy f***, if you’re going to hold Joe accountable as a gaslighting love bombing serial killer douche, then I mean, Kate and several others having a happy ending is comical.

Dope Thief was great, I kind of hope they do a 2nd season, curious where they can take it, but I can also see it just ending the way it did. That theme song is so damn catchy.

Gangs of London - Gareth Evans, go f*** yourself for what you decided the story should be for Season 3. Way to destroy a great show, wanker.

Last of Us, etc, I watch when it comes out, with the wife. She is shocked at how much of the game is in the show as she’s watched me replay both games and was like “wait, they literally just put it all in the show?” And yeah they did and it’s still good. Yet somehow the dumb f***s at Paramount+ couldn’t figure out how this all worked for adaptations and f***ed up Halo royally. Like jeez, to wait this long for a Halo show or a movie and then they f*** it up that bad? We’ll never see a Halo show again and I will never get a chance to see a proper BioShock movie or show because Netflix is shit and also never see Gears of War no matter how much Dave Batista keeps campaigning for it.

I can’t get into the shows my wife likes that we don’t watch together - Wheel of Time is just way too much going on for me to invest in.

Any suggestions?

Ah geez, I hope all our Vancouver friends are okay.
My wife and I were actually planning on attending that event too, then head to a Vietnamese market near by after, we last minute decided to just go home as she wasn’t feeling great after the IVF appointment downtown and we just went straight home. I mean to say we are lucky feels shitty to even think about because so many weren’t and should all be here right now and not murdered by a bloke that should have never been allowed to leave the mental health facility he was in prior to the incident. My heart breaks for that young Vietnamese couple that passed with their 5yr old, absolutely tragic for everyone that was injured and lost loved ones, but that one was just really hard on my wife as it reminded her of her parents coming to the US for a better life and just starting out and they are mowed down.

 but then :(

anyhow, we're now officially a week overdue, and the doctors are worried because my wife is tiny and the baby very much is not, so we're probably going to induce on Monday.

Best of luck brother.

Totally different situation but my wife was originally induced with our first. That was actually 2 weeks early however because the kid was measuring huge already and also my wife was pre-eclamptic. The BP was not behaving so she ended up going in for a c section.

We had almost the opposite ... pre-eclampsyia and ~5 weeks early with emergency c section. All was well though.

Once they're potty trained, it's all downhill from there.

Again, best wishes. Take lots of pictures/video (not the birth though, unless you're into that shit ...) as you go.

High five preeclampsia early c-section homie!

I will say the benefit is that I never had any chance to be your typical nervous first-time dad-to-be. There was about 45 seconds where I got really freaked out realizing that the next time we left the hospital we'd have a freaking tiny human with us but everything was so nutty, that's all the chance I got.

Congrats to @Randy Butternubs and Mrs. Nubs.... Rome and Athens....Honeymoon.... Nice!

1 week? 2 weeks? Bummer about Rome.

@HandshakeLine Congrats on a Baby __?__! Do you know?

You won't be enjoying any sleep for a long, long time. So stock up now.

My kids are 19 and 15. I can't even remember back that far to remember all the sleepless nights, one in college, and the other a freshman in HS.

Time fly's bye to the both of you pair of youngsters. Enjoy the moment while you can.

@Randy Butternubs - favorite meal of the trip?

Everything we had was above average. Breakfast was always provided by whatever hotel we were at. And lunch was usually something small or snacks we picked up at the grocery store.

Our first full day we went to a restaurant that specializes in gnocchi and I loved it. The next day we had a cooking class at a nice Italian lady's home and had so much good food. And our last full day in the Sorrento area we had a few small dishes at a winery at the base of Mt Vesuvius. edit: I didn't even mention the one restaurant we went to where Aly had her favorite dish -- angle hair wrapped shrimp deep fried and covered in a lemon fondue.

The first two nights we were in Rome we got pasta at two different restaurants in the Monti area. Nothing mind blowing but both good. However the service at the second place sucked. The third night we had a food tour and all was good. Got a variety of pizza slices our last day and really liked the red sauce.

I had moussaka our first night in Athens. We were starving and loved everything at that restaurant -- I'm sure it helped the portions were huge. The next day was another good food tour which was actually just us two and the guide.

Our cruise to some islands was cancelled the following day so we just walked around and tried out restaurants near the hotel. Had a killer pork sandwich for relatively cheap, napped, went out to some bars for small plates. Then our last day we had a nice Greek dinner at a place near the hotel called Giagia Koukou -- amazing pita and other good food too.

But to answer your question: the gnocchi

Two weeks. Four-ish days each in Sorrento area, Rome, and Athens.

Just curious why on Rome? Starting to think about trip next year and considering Italy vs Spain.

It was only the start of the "tourism season" but it was already too crowded for my liking. People were oblivious on the sidewalks and were frustrating me. Very walkable but get the f*** outta my way.

We canceled our semi-private tour of the Vatican because: 1. we didn't know if they were going to be open given the Pope's death & if they (the Vatican) canceled on us we didn't get our money back; 2. we were exhausted and needed a rest day.

We were also supposed to have a semi-private tour of the Colosseum but the company we booked with f***ed that up. That was pretty much the only thing I wanted to see which put a massive damper on Rome for me.

To recap: Tuesday we get in late and had a golf cart tour of the city & had a good dinner. Wednesday we were supposed to go to the Vatican but needed a rest day & we had an okay dinner (service sucked, I was getting hangry, and the food was only above average). Thursday was pretty much ruined for me cause of the Colosseum fiasco but we ended up having a decent time on a food tour. And Friday was just us wandering around the city which was fine & we had a variety of pizza for dinner.

The hotel was also nothing to write home about. Centrally located, but the smallest/worst of the 3 we stayed at. Rome ended up being an expensive staycation part of our honeymoon.

Maybe the vibes were just off cause the Pope died but a friend went before then and was also disappointed with Rome.

I mean, we plan to go back to see the Vatican and Colosseum so it wasn't THAT bad.

Sounds like my experience with Paris. Accumulating small annoyances, shit weather, poor Airbnb experience, and inability to find great food (it was there I'm sure but we didn't do enough advance research on restaurants).
