I don't see the point in this one. Nurse was so heavily #2 on the last vote. We should just move onto #3. That's where it gets interesting IMO.

I see Marincin and Klefbom hogging most of the votes, but Khaira, Yakimov and Moroz will start to get a lot more votes from that point on.

I don't see any reason to rush things. The summer is long. Gives us Oilers fans more to discuss/do than dream bout the second line centre we aren't getting.

The thing is, there is not very much discussion when everyone is in agreement. Everyone votes the same, few argue the results, so the threads tend to be short.

The 3rd will be more interesting between Marincin and Klefbom.

For me, decent showings at the Olympics and the WC put Marty up at number 2....but it's a toss up between the 3 defenders anyway....

I'd almost consider Marty graduated

he's putting up fourth line numbers in the AHL

what do you see as his upside?

In his first year pro he played almost exclusively on the 4th line. He was relied upon to win face offs play physical and kill penaltys, all of which he does very well. He can agitate, hit, and can fight when needed to. I see his upside as a 4th line NHL centre, the same player he was at junior, and now at the AHL level. He understands his role and works hard at that specific role. We need guys In the system who can play roles on our team. He is such a good 4th line player it's weird. His game is perfect for it. He will never have the offence to play above the 4th line and no one should expect anything more than that from him.

Thanks for the scouting report. He seems to be a good value prospect.

I just wonder, in terms of being a prospect, who could he replace on the current roster?Would he be an upgrade?(4th line, of course)

Nurse- easy choice
Klefbom- high upside
Marincin- pretty much equal to Klefbom
Yakimov- will move up to #2 or down to #6 depending on his AHL year.
Simpson- higher on him than most. I see a gem

Khaira-See Yakimov

IMO, he is Gordan's replacement in 2 years, playing spot duty for injury's over that time. Yes, by that I mean I think he will see time in the NHL this year and next. He's not the type of prospect who is much of a project, he is what he is at every level.

So since this one is a given result.

What is Nurse's upside with the Oilers? I'm not sure how to pin it down. Two-way stud top pairing guy? Does he project to be a top pairing d-man? Or is that just what we hope he becomes?

Seems to be tough to pin down a good comparable to him. A faster Dion Phaneuf with not quite as good a shot?

That's overrating Ewanyk imo. Look at their WHL production. Ewanyk's best season was 27 points... Gordon had 81. Ewanyk, imo, is a replacement for what Hendricks currently is

When I watch his skating style and nastiness/physicality, it's hard not to think Chris Pronger. The one major difference is between the ears. Pronger processed the game at the highest level. Doubt Nurse ever gets to that level, but how close he comes will determine what level of "poor man's Pronger" he is. That's a pretty good player to have.
