You have much more muscle than me so maybe my 19% BF is more accurate than I figured. I will keep working at it. I have been working on losing as much fat as possible and plan to bulk up a bit after my fat cut is done. I still have a good inch that I can pinch on my gut![]()
Obviously not irresponsibly heavy - when I say heavy, it’s relative - but heavy lifting and carnivore diet has always burned far, far more fat for me than any other combination of diet and exercise. Heavy lifting can be anything, but it should be strenuous enough that finishing 3 full sets of 10 is a challenge. Not including additional warmup and burnout sets at lower weights, I usually find a weight where I can do something like 10x, 10x, 8x, 6x, 5x, 5x and go for six sets that progressively get shorter as I fatigue. Part of the reasons the reps drop is also that I try to keep the form very strict so getting to 10 gets harder and harder as muscles tire and the form wants to break down. But this creates what is called an “after burn” effect - essentially the idea is that lifting to an adequate level of intensity forces your body to continue burning calories while it recovers, even after the workout has ended. With lighter workouts or cardio, you stop burning calories within a minute or two of the workout ending. With more intense/heavy workouts your body becomes more like a furnace and burns calories for 2-3 hours post workout. Additionally, as you build more muscle mass, your body burns more calories daily, making it easier to lose more and more fat while consuming the same diet as prior. I know you didn’t ask for advice but I that’s my secret. That and a pint of whiskey a day
