Washington is looking to unload a few assets in the interest of long term viability financially.

Mats Zuccarello 77 43 85 88 61 83 81 85 36 89 76 76 89 68 71 80 50 77

Pending UFA Mats Zuccarello is seeking a contract north of the 120% required improvement over his $4.5 million salary last season. This makes him a prime candidate to secure prior to open market bidding. His price is reportedly high for his signature, but there are literally no other UFA options that will be able to match his ratings for next season. Washington may still try to find the room to keep him, but teams looking for a first line winger have a player here that is rated as a difference maker. Washington is looking for a 2nd and a prospect for the right to exclusive negotiation. If you are planning to be active in the UFA market, get your business done early.

Brandon Sutter 78 44 92 77 73 76 62 65 86 58 68 94 63 77 79 72 50 71

still one of the best penalty killers in the sim (94 df, 86 fo), sutter has become a luxury that the capitals may not be able to afford. at 4.7 million, he is slotted a bit high for our 3rd line. however, if your team was poor on the kill last season, this is an instant fix without competing in the market. washington will be considerate of his cap hit in our ask for him. future picks or prospects will get this done.

Dan Hamhuis 69 43 85 78 74 69 86 58 25 49 47 78 25 88 92 61 50 71

veteran defenseman who is closing in on the end of his career, but still offers valuable penalty killing and even strength production. hamhuis did a little bit of everything last year and his 88 df help bolster his value as a top 4 defender. his $5.2 salary eats away at his value, but for teams needing a bridge to developing defenders, there are few better suited. contingencies can be made in the deal in the event of his retirement. like sutter, the ask is reasonable.
