Snuggerud isn’t as dynamic with the puck on his stick as other top prospects, but I still think he will be a very good top 6 forward. He reminds me a lot of Buchnevich who is a top line winger and one of the Blues two best players. He isn’t puck dominant but has good hands and vision, provides excellent support, and can put the puck in the net.

Are you guys kidding me? LOL

What do you think of Knies' 18 year old season compared to Snuggerud's? How would you compare their respective WJC performances?

EDIT: for the record, I am completely biased here, but I think there is a VERY good argument to be made that Snuggerud is a better prospect than Knies...and I actually perfer Dvosrky to Knies among Blues prospects haha

He is a better prospect. But it's Toronto. We're outnumbered 10 to 1 here.

Yes, and the Knies votes are mostly leaf’s fans. Same for most of the prospects, that was my point.

Knies is winning this poll because he was drafted by a team with a large fan base. If you look at publicly available prospect rankings, I think it’s fair to say most people have Dvorsky rated higher than he is being rated here…which is the poster you quoted’s point.

Korchinski is like 17 months younger than Svozil and just put up the same season as Svozil in the WHL. Not sure how he is a better prospect.

Let's see, 13 pts in 7 playoff games (Svozil) or 14 pts in 19 playoff games (Korchinski). I watched a few T-Birds games in the Mem Cup and didn't think it was Korchinski's best showing. Good prospect but he'll have to catch up to Svozil.

17 months of development is a huge deal. Also using sample sizes that small is quite weird. Did Svozil play in the memorial cup? No. Against WHL competition they put up the same seasons. One being 17 months younger with way better physical traits. It’s a no brainer.

I begrudgingly went with Knies here - he's a ready made top six forward with super translatable skills. A bit of Kreider in his game. We know he'll be good.

I still have a lot of guys I'd take over Eklund or Hutson here. But I'm not sure how to approach ranking those guys.

Ryker Evans looked incredible to me in the AHL playoffs, it's hard to get a read on how NHL ready he is though. It's not like I have a lot of other folks who watched Firebirds games I can ask what they thought about it.

Matthew Wood looks like the closest thing to 2014 Leon Draisaitl. Big upside there, big scoring resume.

Evangelista already has several multi-point games in the NHL. We should be talking about him. Close to the same age as Eklund.

Kasper and Savoie didn't have great D+1s but they have a lot more time to take off than Eklund does - he's about to turn 21.

Stan Svozil just had a season full of great showings at every level. You can argue that he should have won the WJC D MVP award, he also had 13 points in 7 WHL playoff games and 3 points in 3 pro games at the end of the year. I'm more confident in Svozil than Hutson.
What about Kasper's SHL season wasn't great for an 18yo?

I don't think putting up that kind of numbers in 2022-23 Regina is really the same as doing it on a loaded Seattle team that had like 8 over PPG players last year.

Points and age aside, I wonder how Korchinski has improved his defensive game from draft year. Based on what I saw at Mem cup I'm not sure if there's been much progress. Physical traits will only get you so far. As a biased Jackets fan I'm way less doubtful about Svozil becoming more of a complete two-way defenseman.

So you watched the game vs the Remparts and made your decisions, got it.

Yes based on my limited viewings I made a decision to say that I have more doubts about Korchinski's defensive game while you decided to state it's a no brainer Korchinski is or appears to be the better prospect.

Yes, based on my one game I watched* I made a decision to say that I have more doubts.

I think he played in all 5 games. I saw 4 of them. Then I partially watched couple regular season games. And almost all Team Canada's WJC games. Based on those viewings he didn't look noticeably better than what I saw in his draft year.

--------

Now could someone who's watched him more closely and is actually willing to have a constructive conversation come and tell me has his defensive game got any better this year, and if yes, in what ways?
