Swayman is way underrated. Top 10 for sure. Samsonov is also way underrated. I get he’s had an erratic career so far, but last season was very good and he could be an eventual Vezina winner. He’s that good when he’s on. I would struggle to leave him out of the top 15.

Surprised HF got it right on Jarry. I see him get so much criticism, and he still posts solid numbers like every year. It’s not saying much, but he’s the best Canadian goalie.

Some of the dudes at the bottom of that list are only being ranked because they are starters for terrible teams. Give me Levi, Wolf, Dostal, and a few others over a bunch of them. We regularly see goalies step in as rookies and crush it, so there’s value there that’s not being given its due at the bottom of that list.

Statistically speaking, Kuemper blows Jarry out of the water the last half-decade.

He should be at nine ahead of Bobrovsky, Jarry and Gustavsson.

Goaltending around the league is definitely at a low point it seems. List looks fine for the most part. As a Devils fan, I take Akira Schmid well over Vitek Vanicek, so that's definitely a gripe with the list I have. I'd actually take Schmid over a couple of the guys in the 20s as well, but I know that's a bit of an unpopular opinion around these parts because he's not "proven".

I don't think it's necessarily a huge difference, as none of them are that good, but a few things I think work in Jarry's favor. Jarry has never had a "bad" season in the NHL. Kuemper's been more erratic, and his reputation didn't start picking up until he was Jarry's current age. I think Kuemper is very much at the end of his effectiveness as an NHL starter, while Jarry is very much in his prime.

Goaltending in this era seems pretty lackluster compared to the rest of the post-lockout years.
In the last era alone we had Price, quick, rinne, Holtby, Rask, Crawford, Miller, Luongo, Bobrovsky, Lundqvist, Fleury, Bishop to name a few.

Heck even some other guys outside the elite like Andersen, Howard, Smith etc were pretty good.

You're absolutely right that it's been lackluster compared to the previous era

GSAx rank courtesy of moneypuck.com (min. 10 games played):

Kuemper:

22/23 - 16
21/22 - 5
20/21 - 24
19/20 - 6
18/19 - 13

Jarry:

22/23 - 48
21/22 - 11
20/21 - 57
19/20 - 27
18/19 - N/A

Cumulative standard stats from nhl.com over the past five years (min. 15 games played):

Kuemper: 10th in SV%, 4th in SO
Jarry: 19th in SV%, 14th in SO

Kuemper is clearly the superior goaltender while Jarry is more erratic.

It showed in the playoffs too. I don't know if it's new equipment or a new league wide play-style or something but there was a lot of average at best goaltending last postseason
