No favors for you, you couldn't even beat Toronto.

After self-destructing in the first period, coming back to salvage a point only to lose the extra in the skills competition felt almost like a win. Dropping the ball against Chicago in overtime hurt though. Kind of thought we'd come away with 2 points against Chicago but lose to Toronto. We got our two points, but in the form of post-regulation losses instead. Ho hum, I guess.

Being both a Jets and a Rangers fan is going to be tough tonight. I'm going to the game and I absolutely want the Jets to win to keep up in the top of the league, but I also want to see the Rangers turn things around. So I definitely want the game to go to overtime at the very least. As for goals, this is where it really sucks for me. I want to see a lot of great goals by my various favorite players, however I also somehow want both Shesty and Helle to get shutouts.

Sigh.

How about a double shutout that goes to a shootout? :P

Marchand taking line rushes with the Panthers....

I'm not really sure how I'd feel if I were a Panthers fan about the prospect of getting Marchand back from injury. On one hand, while it's not mathematically clinched (no one can say this yet though), they might as well have their playoff spot locked up already. On the other hand, they're pushing for the division title. I'd be curious to know what Panthers fans think about this situation.

I think he’s just taking advantage of a chance to get out and skate with them.
Unless something has changed with his status since yesterday’s press conference

To use my earlier cricket parallel, this reminds me of the 2011 Cricket World Cup group stage match between South Africa and India. India batted first and at one point were like 267/1. India looked to control the chase, but the South Africans were at the very least okay with hanging in there. In the final over or so, some guy on South Africa came up to bat and if you were to read his eyes, he looked like he was out there to kill everyone. He smashed one for six, then... did something, I guess. South Africa scored 16 runs off their last over to win the match. Didn't ultimately help them, because South African cricket did South African cricket things, that is to say, they choked in the knockout round. Was fun to watch though.

If you don't understand cricket, I don't know what to tell you, so I won't even try other than to say that South Africa snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, then did the opposite when push came to shove.

Why did you have to remind me that Avril Lavigne exists? Also, why did you have to make me feel old, despite the fact that I'm 38 and if I've read your previous posts correctly, you're much older than me?

...OK, the Avril thing was unfair...I accept any punishment @hangman005 has for me...

...and yes, my kids are 33, 31, & 30...y'all are still babies...:biglaugh:

I'm 38. My dad isn't a hockey fan (but he tuned in to the USA vs. Canada championship game at the 4 Nations), and constantly makes fun of me for being into hockey (though he did come to almost every single one of my games when I played high school hockey, where I achieved the whopping stat line of 1 goal in 50 games played).

In other words, can you be my dad instead of him? :P
