Somewhat. Across conferences it isn’t a great indicator, it could be better within conference and division even. Opponents vary too much. There were more points in the east this season because of their record vs western teams. There just wasn’t any 20 or 25 win teams. Worst teams in the east had 33 wins.

3 teams... and 3 Metro in the bottom 10, and a 3rd Metro seed that is quite a bit behind the WC2 team.

and let's not pretend we have division heavy skeds any more... we only played the Oilers 1 more time than the Eastern teams.

yet they still use it to determine draft picks, the literal purpose of the standings is to quantify team's performances against each other

...apologies, hit 4 instead of 3...and schedules are still alot more heavily Division/Conference based; some you play 3 times, some you play 4 in Conference...only play out of Conference games twice...

the reality is the conferences are probably pretty even, the Atlantic was the best division this year, but the Metro was the worst IMO, while the west had more of teh bottom few teams, the rest of the conference had a ton of parity and was super competitive

Sure and it’s not perfect is what I’m saying. Calgary is a team with 30 ROW, 14 OTL and a -17 GD. They aren’t world beaters. The record difference between them and Montreal is minuscule. 3 OTL is the difference between their records before the conclusion of tonight’s game. They aren’t better than NJD.

100%... like the cops here are so bad, the province literally told them to get their shit together or they be disbanded and they'd have the AB Sheriff department take over... and this is a city of more than 100k.... we also had an incident where there was a deer that had been hit by a car and was in a lot of pain... instead of euthanizing it by shooting it like they should have... the cop ran it over again several times to kill it

...you need to move out East, amigo...worst thing our Cops usually do is get caught drinking with (and hitting on) teenagers instead of busting them for Underage Drinking... :biglaugh:

and after today we may miss the playoffs while tied for the last playoff spot... a miniscule difference is still a difference, no it's not perfect, but it's all we got

...and Jersey was hit ridiculously bad by the injury bug this year to their best players...

I just checked, and she is. But the Flames have Meaghan Mikkelson making her TV debut tonight on our feed, so I wasn't sure if I should correct you or not.. and if I should defend Mikkelson because I really like the job she's doing in a difficult situation replacing Millen
